Looking for a good video editing program, what do you use?

I have been asked to put together some simple videos for my work but I am very new to doing this.
I have never edited a video before, only taken one long video and uploaded it.

I'm looking for something that is easy to work with, a "Lightroom" but for video editing would be great.

Can anyone recommend me a program, oh and free would also be great as I just need to do a couple of these.
