Recommend me a surround sound PS3 headset

I'm in the market for a good surround sound headset for my PS3, I'm a bit confused at the moment as some of them have 4 speakers for each ear and some just have the regular single speaker but use some sort of funky technology to emulate the surround sound? I want something that actually lets you hear the directionality of the different sounds like a regular surround sound system does.

I'd also prefer it be wireless and PS4 compatible if possible.

astro gaming a50 headset

Astro's are a little more than I was aiming to spend, I picked up some Skull Candy PLYR1's on sale as they seem okay but there's a few niggling issues and the surround doesn't seem super obvious to me. Has anyone tried the official Sony ones?

i have both the $99 sony wireless headset and the pulse elite which goes for $139

im actually pretty content with both, plug the blue tooth receiver on the usb and works like a charm

if your going to use this for ps4, heads up it doesnt support it yet...... sony is releasing a software update this month or the next to enable it

the pulse elite works because it has an audio jack and you can plug it on the ds4 controller but the "virtual 7.1" doesnt work.. so just regular stereo sound, its good enough that i can pin point where an enemy is firing from on bf4

Awesome, thanks! I think I'll snag the Pulse Elite's tomorrow and compare. I won't be picking up a PS4 for a while so I can wait for the update.

I got the pulse elite. I love it! So comfy. Make sure you check the BB and FS prices because they were different(30 dollar difference) when I bought them, so I got a pricematch at BB. Got it for much cheaper.

just get the pulse elite when it's on sale for 99.99

if you guys have access to the employee bestbuy auction, you can grab the pulse elite for around $60

thats what i paid. rumble feature is stupid tho. otherwise i like them a lot. as long as the usb dongle is powered by any usb power source and the 3.5mm headphone jack is connected, it can be used on any audio source, EG: TV or phone/ipod

also can be hooked directly to audio source via male to male 3.5mm headphone jack if the battery goes dead.

i Priced matched Amazon.ca at Bestbuy about a year ago.

note: i tried them on my PS3 yesterday and found the volume wouldn't go high enough for my taste. on PC they rock. not sure if PS3 has an internal volume output control, seeing as i opened mine last week too after sitting in my basement for 6 months :p

note: the pulse is charged by usb and non removable lithium battery, when it really dies, not sure where you can get a replacement. Sony wont sell you one.

also using the pulse elite. my only reasoning for buying them over the other pulse unit was that it has a built in mic. it might sound weird, but the protruding mic's have always bothered me in the past. this headset looks awesome and its nice and comfy too. only down side is the rumble bass feature. sounds like absolute garbage. i have to keep the bass volume turned all the way down, other wise it just keeps excessively making that annoying rumbling sound.

Exactly how I'm using it for my PS4 right now. The USB is plugged into one of the USB's on my TV and its plugged directly into the audio output 3.5 mm jack in the back of my tv.
