BC drinking and driving law Hey, I've always been told I am allowed to have a beer or a glass of wine over lunch/dinner at a pub and drive home afterwards as long as I dont exceed .05 but I recently overheard at the table next to me that that law no longer exists and it is infact anything from .01 to .049 is a 12 hour suspension. And .05 and .079 up is worse... (sorry i dont know the specifics)... so its completely illegal to have a glass of wine now? |

Unless you are an L or N ( zero BAC) , and are not "impaired" by the alcohol you consumed, going over the level of .05mg can result in the charges being imposed.....staying under it is not illegal. Whoever told you otherwise is not correct. |
^^ it is also up to the officers discretion. If you blow 0.02 but couldn't hold your lane, or possibly have slurred speach, the officer can still arrest you. Too many people i know think you're immune to arrest as long as you blow under 0.05 Posted via RS Mobile |

so just because you blow under the legal limit, does not mean you aren't Impaired. |
