2015 Ford F-150 shaves 700 pounds, adds 2.7-liter EcoBoost - Autoblog

Game over. Stayed close to the concept.

The 5.0v8 remains

If I ever buy a truck, it's going to be a Silverado. The grills on the F series are just too much.

The grill looks great in black.

Because they're overhauling/redesigning the entire truck :e-shrug:

Im guessing 2.7L V6 ecoboost is for entry
the 5.0L V8 for medium (same engine as mustang)
and 3.5L V6 ecoboost for top end

times have changed when a V6 is the top engine lol. I currently have a F150 with the ecoboost and it's a great engine.

da fuq is with the headlights.

slicrick 01-12-2014 10:04 PM

those headlights :heckno:

Teriyaki 01-12-2014 10:09 PM

Not a truck fan overall. But those headlights definitely rub me the wrong way. I can see myself getting used to them though, but not a good first impression.

RRxtar 01-12-2014 10:18 PM

Wass looking forward to the new f150. Didn't think the atlas headlights would cary over to production. Definitely not a fan. Should of taken out the little jut in. The f350 headlights look good and these could been similar

Never buying another F150 i guess. That thing looks like complete and utter crap.

Lomac 01-12-2014 11:24 PM

I'm definitely impressed that they managed to shed 700 freakin' pounds off of this thing. I'm also surprised that they're offering LED headlights as well. Though speaking of the headlights, as other have already mentioned, that jut into the housing looks awkward. Maybe it'll look better in person but I've a feeling Ford will dump it during a future facelift.

I still wouldn't buy one if I was in the market for a truck (mainly because unless I plan on using it for work, a full size truck is pointless), but I think Ford has managed to hit a winning strategy with this new generation. It certainly makes the brand new Chevy Silverado look immediately outdated.

Timpo 01-12-2014 11:46 PM

the headlights are kinda like chevy or something

MarkyMark 01-13-2014 07:03 AM

I can see those headlights looking a bit better when they make a blackhousing version.

Besides the Raptor I still think Dodge looks the best.

body will be made of aluminum - less weight therefore no need for high power engine.

supafamous 01-13-2014 07:20 AM

Wonder what kind of hit Ford is taking on their margins to switch to aluminum. Very impressive that they've managed to pull it off. Losing 700lbs (let's just suppose it's a bit exaggerated) is a real wow statement.
