Brake line leaking brake fluid.
 

Need to get brake line replaced on my 2003 2500HD Chevy silverado. Does anyone know any reputable shops that do brake work? The truck is always exposed to salt water I heard there are stainless steel brake lines out there. Is there much of a price difference from stainless and just regular steel brake lines? Any tips and info would be much appreciated thanks.

I can't answer your question specifically, sorry. However, I would recommend you have the brake line (hoses?) checked out before making the decision of switching to a different type (i.e. stainless steel etc.)

You would want to figure out what the source of the problem is first. Most brake hoses have a rubber outer coating and some kind of lining underneath, usually teflon. Stainless steel lines are a bit overkill, if not, unnecessary unless the brakes are being used to its full potential in cases such as autocross, and road/track racing.

The price difference is definitely huge between regular hoses and stainless steel. Just some food for thought. Whether they will solve your problem is the million dollar question.

Actually, case in point.

My M3's brake hose needed replacement. All the fan boys said to get stainless steel braided lines (they aren't cheap.)

Turns out the OEM factory BMW hoses for the M3 are steel braided but with a rubber outer coating. Again, some food for thought. Have the vehicle diagnosed before throwing parts/money at it. Good luck! :)
