saw thread title, clicked thinking it would be a timpo thread called : "Worlds fastest: 270.49mph GTR"

i find it sad that companies wont let other companies test their cars on the same track under the same conditions. it would be a better comparison.

i assume this set the record for the fastest production car?

i know of highly modified street legal ford gt's doing 270 mph in a standing mile.

it's not a production car
i'm guessing they further tweaked things to be testing this car now...wasn't it released few years ago?

Not a world record. It's not a production car and isn't even street legal (emissions legal).

Plus they left out the fact it only went fast one-way. To even qualify for a world record you need to perform back-to-back runs in each direction.

Not trying to bash Americans (I actually like the US), but why do so many of them alter rules just so they can claim a record? Most recent example is the US ranking countries by total medals when everyone else ranks by Gold medals.

Plus it's Hennessey, a company that I'm amazed is still in business.
