School me on domain name/email hosting

can someone take me to school on how to do this stuff:

setup a domain (.ca) - I looked on godaddy.ca and looks like I can get it for 9.99 per year. is that my only cost? I read about that @N guy who had a bad experience with godaddy, so any other suggestions?

setup 3 email address with mailboxes. Is there a cost for this?

Any free CRM systems out there? I know a while back sugar CRM used to be free but now it seems to charge. I need 1 or 2 users. Has to be free.

edit: this is what i've found so far

email - http://www.zoho.com/mail/zohomail-pricing2.html
crm - https://www.zoho.com/crm/comparison.html

any feedback on Zoho?

Do not post a domain name you want on the internet without securing it first.

I would remove the domain name from your post ASAP.

I always recommend using Namespro.ca they are a local company with great customer support and service.

I've never only done email but I use a combination of my web host Dave's network.ca and gmail.

I've setup civicrm before. That's free and sits on top of something like joomla or WordPress. However you're going to need webhosting as well for that to work.

so when going with Godaddy is 9.99 my total cost per year?

lilaznviper 03-02-2014 04:44 PM

if you google godaddy coupons there are coupons that will drop the price down a bit

I use DreamHost, love their service and support. Typically the $9.99 "per year" is per domain, and then you'll pay $100 or so for the hosting account itself... so one domain would be $110, two would be $120, five would be $150, etc. Sometimes you'll get the first year free as a new customer. Depends on the particular host.

I also have Gmail set for our company email - works seamlessly for "@companyname.com" addresses, plus I can do email via any browser or mobile device. Very handy.

If you want to try DreamHost I can give you a discount code (gives me a little kickback too).

ended up going with go daddy and had my first renewal this year at 15.99
email is set up with zoho

no complains for 15.99 yearly cost.

all i really needed was a @companyname.com email capabilities.

Is it $16 just for domain name or including all the monthly fees ?
I paid 11 for domain and all the monthly other stuff added on ended up being $33 at blue host :(

I signed up for web hosting today with SiteGround and got a free .org domain out of it which I will use as a parked domain for our main site .ca

All is well and I'm happy with the price... except I didn't realize that there is a 500MB mailbox quota per email. Oops.

Do most web hosting services also have such restrictions? Or did I dun goof'd?

Many many other options than GoDaddy. Everytime I hear that name it makes me want to plug my ears with screwdrivers.

Any deals out there?

I'm currently with JustHost and my site is about to expire.

If I use another web host, can I register the same domain or I'm fucked if JustHost keeps my domain?

SkinnyPupp 05-02-2015 07:49 PM

Perfect timing. Hostgator is having a 55% sale from May 4-6. Use code: REDCROSS15
