Very true. Nothing like getting banking/grocery shopping done during a weekday early afternoon. :toot: feelsgoodman

But I meant more social events like dinner parties, game nights, sports leagues, concerts, random evening beers, spontaneous get-togethers, watching whatever sports games, etc, with other people (most of whom probably work the standard day shift) usually happen on weeknights and weekends.

Love it
I work 12 hour shifts: 14D/14 off/14N/14 off

hate them. 12 hour shifts from 7pm to 7am with about 2-3 hr break in between. can't schedule things with friends and it messes up my sleep pattern. i think i got fatter too lol

I had not only irregular days off, but at least three times a month had to go to work when we opened to cover someone's early shift. The brutal inconsistency of not having a fixed day off, but work hours where I started on the late rotation and then coming in early the next day was a morale killer.

Hated it.

Regular Mon-Fri with some "Mandatory" Overtime.
2 weeks: 6:25am - 2:55pm
2 weeks: 2:35pm - 11:05pm
2 weeks: 10:45pm - 6:45am

30min lunch, two 10min coffee.

Couldn't sleep or eat right. Stressed all the time. Irritable.
Only the gym and friends kept me sane.

Money was good, but I'm pretty sure I lost a few years to my life in exchange.
I did it for three years before I said, "FUCK THIS!" and got on a plane to Hawaii.

The life of the shift worker is fucking brutal.

The fact that I don't have to "work" like normal people has made me turn towards God and Jesus, and I thank them every day for all of my blessings

Seriously I worked like that before and it is HELL.

I still work shift work to this day but chose the late shift because it's at least consistent.

2:30-11pm

I'm an older guy and my social life has dwindled anyway. By taking the shifts no one wants, I can at least have SOME routine in my life. I'm guaranteed hours and the money is enough for me to use on both cars while supporting my life needs and misc. shit.

While technically not where someone of my age should be, I'm not complaining (much). It still beats the 4 years of Graveyard I did. Even though the premium pay made a difference from working the Graveyards, come pay day, the lack of ANY social life vs. lack of some social life started to grate on my sanity.

2-10:30s, fucking hated those shifts

mr_chin 03-17-2014 10:49 PM

6am - 230pm, love the hours, hate the schedule. Different days off every week, can't plan shit. Plus my manager rarely gives me Sat/Sun off.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 10:01 PM.
