Always put both names that way they're both held accountable for any damages. My brother and I rent a condo together and both of our names are on the lease, however only his phone number is on the strata list.

looks like i should be getting the lease signed today....one more question about getting the brother to sign the lease, he's away right now for work and won't be back still the 14th....i leave for my trip on the 7th

can he still sign on to the lease when he's back?

my inlaws are laywers so they can witness but i'm just curious how that would work and if it would still be binding

You'll be surprised how many people will come to you and tell you they're ready to give you a deposit, references blah blah but when you ask them to fill out a credit application you'll never hear back from them again.

which one do you do? credit report or credit decision report? looks like credit report

Credit report.

Cassijon 04-07-2014 09:46 AM

doing a credit check is a smart thing to do as a landlord, but the result shouldnt be the factor that makes your decision for you.

Those reports do not show past rental history.

in my opinion, someone might have bad credit due to a bad CC or personal loan here and there, but would never fuck up their living situation. not paying those CC or personal loan, or paying them late wont result in that person living on the streets so they might not take those payments are serious.

Credit checks are a good reference tool, but thats all it is. a reference tool.
