Punctured Tire

Has a tire puncture last summer on one of my summer tire and got it plugged, which seemed fine afterwards. No signs for leaks etc.

3 weeks ago, swapped out my winter and summers back on, with proper psi.

Yesterday, I noticed my tire a bit funny and soft, checked the tire and it dropped 10 psi. So I took out the tire to inspect for leakage and used the soap/water bottle mechanism by spraying tire all over to see if there's any bubbling/fizzing, which would potentially be the culprit. The plugged area seems to be slowly releasing air.

Should I go get it patched up? Patch and plug two different things? Or buy a another tire?

Go to Kal tire and get it properly patched. Plugs only work temporarily. Kal tire will probably do it for free or else its $25.

I went to Kal Tire. They plugged it......no wonder they didn't charge me...

Weird, I've gotten all my tires patched by them many times. Never have they put a plug in it, always a patch. I go to the one on Boundary. The last time I got my oil changed, my mechanic threw in a plug since I had a nail in the tire. I went to Kal tire right after and they patched it up for free.

As long as the puncture isn't near the sidewall you can patch it. Plugs aren't very good. They don't seal up as well.

Patching a tire usually costs like $20.

+1 to Kal Tire patching tires for free.
have had 3 tires (diff vehicles) patched for free

not all kal tires do tire repairs for free. the one in whalley charged me $45 to fix two punctures on my dad's car. when i asked the manager when is it free, he told me it was for past customers at the same location only. i have bought from the boundary one before and they did it in the past for free, but this whalley location was the first time :(

when you plug your tire, isn't that only supposed to be for temporary use until you actually fix the problem?

I always get good service at Kal-Tire. They replaced a broken valve stem on my tire the other week for free.

+1

Combination patches are best.

Buddy usto work at kaltire, the whole reason they patch it for free is they usually give the "run around".
"Don't worry about the 30$ patch, although we would recommend to change your brakes, muffler, etc, etc.
And all the ladies are like http://replygif.net/i/166.gif

Interesting. 20 years of using them and never had one leak.

Improper install maybe?

This is exactly what Kal uses. 1/4 inch or 1/8 inch.

Which one?

I've seen them use regular patches too. It probably depends on location and if they do it for free or not.
