Fine nobody say anything. I mentioned this on another forum, I am pretty well entirely displeased with the end result. I could have most definitely made it better with a little more work, unfortunately it still would not have been as I would have liked and therefore I decided to cut my losses. I actually cut the entire second verse out out because of my dislike of the video. I learned a good deal about shooting at live events though (photography doesn't count towards shit when it comes to video, and my previous cinematography work was coordinated and entirely pre-planned so that wasn't comparable), so I will most definitely improve next time. Main lessons learned: 1. Shutter speed, I did some tests earlier on in the day and the days leading up to the event, but my shutter speed was still wrong. Since that day I fiddled with it some more and I have a new speed that is much better on my camera and at my framerate. 2. Framerate and motion, I need to either better adjust up my framerate (which I don't want to do) or I need to slow my motion down by a lot. 3. Gear - My slider needs legs, the dolly with monopod was entirely unstable. - My crane needs a rubber gasket in between the support and fluid head to reduce vibration and jitter 4. As Lomac pointed out I need a better shot list, upwards of 75% of the shots need to be planned ahead of time atleast to a large degree. I can probably wing 1/4 of the shots, but winging almost half the video above resulted in a poor product. Nonetheless I will be out again at the Summer meet (and maybe some events between now and then). Thanks Revscene. |
video seems fine to me, a bit too hellaflush / stancewars for my taste but overall awesome. It's like a week too late though, no one buys Christmas trees in January, I think the hype died out a bit and everyone was tired of holding f5 for a glimpse of their car. Posted via RS Mobile |
I think the shots were a bit too shaky, if they were smoother the video would look a lot better overall. It was still good though, I don't know much about making videos so that's the only real thing that I could come up with in terms of criticism haha. If you were the guy lugging around the huge rig in the rain, major props to you  |
Definitely props for even having the motivation to make a video. I tried but the rain killed the mood instantly. |
how about a little more bias towards hondas? hahah jk, i liked your video. but it's good that you are able to critique your own work. just don't be too hard on yourself man  |
Actually, it was a very well shot and well edited video. I like how you put 2 or 3 different shots/scenes into one frame. I haven't seen that yet in some other videos. I saw you shooting the video, at the meet, with the pro-equipment, so I know a lot of work went towards it. The only reason I didn't comment earlier was because it would have brought this thread to the next/new page, thereby covering your video (and fewer views). The only suggestion is to maybe make the video a little longer. |

(I left your car in there though, kinda, I had to chop off your scene quick cause people walked in front of the camera continuously.) |
Video was awesome, even if some of the shots were a little shaky your excellent editing more than covers for it and it easily blows most amateur work out of the water. I'm not sure what framerate you shot at but bumping it up won't help a lot if you use YouTube, I've played around with some higher framerate stuff before and it looks very smooth on my machine but meh once YT goes and drops it down. |

I shot it at 24FPS, I am going to be bumping just to 30FPS so that I can interchangeably use gopro footage. I mentioned using a higher frame rate simply because then if I needed to slow something down in post to suit music better or for effect, I could do so. I can obviously see how that is taking a bit of a shortcut and cheating a little. So I am not going to do this. I'm going to focus on smoothing out the shots better while actually capturing and also getting the motion speed right while recording. |
Like the video! little suggestion, would be better if the intro part was using event video clip as background instead of just black. So that we don't need to wait for like 20 seconds to start seeing cars. |
Finally!! A very big sorry to anyone who waited for this (although I'm not sure why you would as this is not a great video) I had some major computer issues so I had to end up buying a whole new computer and software, which took a while to ship. I had to restart everything from scratch but the videos are now up so enjoy I guess. Thank you to everyone who made this possible, your support really means a lot to me. Thanks Cheers Mike |
Video is sweet man. Sucks having computer problems, hope everything is resolved now |
Awesome video as usual Mike! It was worth the wait  I hope my new wheels will be enough for my car to be in your next video LOL :fullofwin: |
