Did a rolling stop at a stop sign

I was at a 3 way stop, I basically braked to maybe 10-20km/h checked no cars were approaching then turned left, not a full stop. Cop was sitting in his car around the corner once I turned left. he stared at me when I went past him but didn't go after me.

I was really scared, will he have a dashcam that captured what I did and send me a ticket through mail?

Now thinking about it, he could have been sitting there waiting for people running stop signs, or waiting for people going 50 in the school zone.

thoughts?

Thanks in advance

He probably realized he'd do the same thing and let you go.

Rolling stop = oxymoron. Like being partly pregnant...either you're pregnant or you're not. Either you stopped or you didn't. In this case slowing to 20k is not a stop. If you didn't get stopped at the time it is very unlikely you will get a ticket served on you. maybe from now on actually stop at a stop sign. I know it's a novel concept and it should remove a lot of anxiety. :)

correct me if I'm wrong but, I always thought rolling was when you slowed down to a near stop then stopped past the line but before the intersection

on another note, the copper might have been playing Solitaire

If you haven't stopped before the line, regardless of if you stop after it or not, you're still rolling through the stop.

I did this exact thing at a Richmond intersection. I was pulled over and asked why I didn't come to a full stop.

It was around 430am when I was going to work but I think he just wanted to make sure I wasn't drunk. He only gave me a warning.

It's like that joke I read one time..

Quote:

A cop stops a man for running a stop sign and the subject gives the cop a lot of grief explaining that he did stop. After several minutes, the cop explained to the gentleman that he didn't stop, he just slowed down a little. The gentleman said, "Stop or slow down, what's the difference?"

The cop pulled the guy out of the car and starts beating him with his nightstick and says, "Would you like for me stop or just slow down?"

:joy:

I wouldn't worry about it. He probably saw that you slowed down and looked, and there wasn't any cars so it's not worth all the paper work for him for something so harmless.

I wouldn't worry about it. He was probably just busy admiring those hot rims on your mom's Sienna.

But seriously, if he didn't stop you already, he was probably busy in his car / on his computer and had better things to attend to.

the only paper work he would have to do is fill out a VT that takes maybe one minute.
