Educate me on Pick a Part's! Hey Revscene, I've come across a parts car at a pick a part at Riteway Auto wreckers in Chilliwack that I am interested in. I understand that I basically can take parts that I need off a car. How are the prices for parts established? Are they standardized, ie $50 for a door or do they depend per model? Thanks!! |
If its like ralph's, then its standardized. ie: $50/ passenger car door or $80/SUV or Truck door. No price difference if you're pulling off a civic or a Benz iirc |
Pick A Part and Riteway are different companies. Riteway charges depend on what part, make and model. Pick A Part has a fixed price for all parts, regardless of what vehicle it comes off. http://www.pickapart.ca/price-list/ What parts do you need? |
There is a guy name Clint that works at riteway who's the biggest cock. I would just stay away from that place. Knowing that they have an s2000 on their lot (through my work), I ordered a center console for my car. Clint was my sales guy. I asked him million times to confirm if the door opens fine or not on the console. He confirms it does, which i bet he didn't even check. Few days later, i receive the console at my shop and only to find out that the door is stuck jammed. I called Clint right away to complain about the door.. and all he says is "okay.. so ill give you a refund than, send the console back". I didnt let his bs attitude slide, and in the end he agreed to reimburse me $50 credit. After 4 months.. i am still waiting for that $50 credit today. I called him every single week asking whats up and nothing has happened still and im in the stage of just giving up. On top of that, my buddy mechanic needed a pair of axles for an s2k that he was working on so he decided to call riteway. Clint quotes him some bs low mileage (somewhere around 18k kms?) which I know for a fact that the car has 68k kms (which is still low so why bs wtf?). My friend decides to order the axles and installs them on his customers car only to find out that they vibrate like shit. I cannot speak for everyone at riteway, but that guy Clint is literally a fucking retard. Just the way he talks will piss you off too |
Right now, I'm looking at a variety of parts for my base Lancer like painted door handles, fold-able rear bench seats, oem strut bar etc.... Unfortunately, Pick a Part and Ralph's do not specialize in 08+ Lancers. I know that B&E Auto, Import Auto Parts Pro Truck Parts Used Auto Parts Recycler stock Lancer parts, but they don't advertise a price. Do you guys have experience with these companies? |
yeap, b&e and pro guys are pretty good, we deal with them often at my work. They're obviously not going to bother advertising prices on minor items like door handles.. these guys make money off engines and body parts to icbc and shops. You're also going to have a hard time finding painted door handles to match your car.. unless you are getting them painted. Have you tried Ebay? |
I see about B&E and Pro. I haven't tried ebay yet. @jpark and other can chime in too, have you had experience physically going to Riteway and taking parts off? I'm tempted at the Rallliart they listed on their site. |
Watch Pick-a-Part's website for weekly specials, too - for example, normally any manual bucket seat is $35, but every now and then (including this week) they have them for $20. Doors are on sale right now, $35 for car doors, $45 for truck/SUV. Keep in mind PaP only has older cars - I think nothing newer than 10 years old. So you probably won't find an '08 anything. |
Pick a Part does have new stuff, but its rare, they get stuff new in all the time, but they tend to no advertise the newer stuff as much as the older stuff i bought a couple things for my 2002 Sentra, they have them all over the place. |

And you didn't buy it? :fulloffuck: |
i personally hate going to any pick-a-part place, they are super cocky panti sniffers, and for some odd reason half the time they want to charge me 10$ under lordcos/online pricing.... |
Import Auto and Pro Auto are great to deal with. Ideal Auto in Chwk is pretty good too. find what you're after on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market |
i work at a body shop, and we deal with all the local (and not so local) wreckers, would have to say import is the best so far. b&e and ideal aren't bad either, but if import has it, buy from them |
Thank you for the suggestions and tips guys!! They are much appreciated. I'll definitely give Import Auto and Ideal Auto a call and see if those Lancers are still available. I hope parts won't be too expensive.... the parts that I want, seats and door handles, aren't that popular imo. |
