Piece of construction metal on road on 88 ave Hey guys, on my way to work at around 7:20am a big yellow piece of metal that looks like it could've been from construction was on the road and I drove over it. I tried to dodge it but didn't see it till last minute because the construction truck infront drove over it too and it just flew towards my car. Now my rear tire is flat and I'm pretty sure something is wrong with my rear suspension. I'm wondering if I can claim this through the city of surrey? Did anyone else see or have the samething happen to them? Just mad and frustrated that this happened.. Any help would be great thanks! Posted via RS Mobile |
i hope u took pics at the scene showing the piece of metal, else its ur words vs the citys |
Fuck I didn't cause there were more cars behind me. What if other cars drove over it as well and reported it? Then there will be evidence Posted via RS Mobile |
will probably have to go through ICBC.. if it was flying towards your car you can file a comprehensive claim with ICBC.. doubt you can go through the city for this as it's probably not theirs |
Oh fuck dude you should have went back and took pics! How else are you suppose to prove to ICBC? Maybe it was somewhat difficult I suppose. Posted via RS Mobile |
Cars were behind me so I can't just stop or else they'll hit me. Super choked.. Hoping it's nothing major. Posted via RS Mobile |

Yeah.. I don't think the outcome would be like this..everything drove fine to where I work then I noticed the flat tire and maybe the rear is a bit lower..maybe I'll drive back there after I'm done.. Posted via RS Mobile |
It doesn't matter if you had the metal, or took pictures for icbc. They claim it as a single vehicle accident and your rates and insurance costs get effected. Just as if you drifted into a curb. Also, i had a piece of cinderblock laying outside my apartment that was under construction and i slammed into it, destroying my wheel and tire. The construction company gave zero fucks since i couldn't prove it was theirs. Bad luck, but you're SOL Posted via RS Mobile |
unless other parties report similar maybe.. I remember I ran over an object on Hwy91 man years ago... ICBC didnt hold me at fault. But it also had something to do with two parties racing on the hwy.. ahha |
Unfortunately with inanimate objects on the road, you are supposed to pay enough care and attention to avoid it. vs wildlife, then you have to run over it, to get comp coverage from ICBC. Dashcam is a wonderful thing. |
Just changed to spare tire it was cut on the side and had a little piece of metal stuck in it. Drove around a little and i think feels fine...hopefully nothing else is wrong..definitely need a dashcam.. Posted via RS Mobile |
The CBC morning news mentioned that a car had suffered a flat tire due to the piece of metal on the road. Perhaps this was you? |
wow that made morning news?! |
I think it was more to inform the masses of potential traffic congestion at the time since everyone slows down when there is a vehicle off to the side of the road. |
oh sorry.. my fault. i havent watched the morning news in ages.. i guess it was under the traffic segment. thought you meant for some reason the headlines.. |
morning traffic on CBC. my bad |
If the only damage is to the tire, it'd be cheaper to just replace the rear tires, than deal with ICBC. What size are they? |
