You don't need one or everyone going cross boarder shopping would need one.

In order to be able to drive and insure their cars, ICBC has to allow them to use their foreign D/Ls. This applies whether you have an American D/L, a Hong Kong DL or a PRC D/L. No getting around it unless you can prove that the driver has exceeded the legal stay period in B.C.

Because of these laws, the courts and Richmond RCMP are in the wrong for not allowing foreigners to drive with foreign D/Ls.

Wait, why the fuck are they allowed to insure a car without a BCDL?

:ahwow:

Just imagine if 95% of Richmond drivers just couldn't drive anymore...

:joy: It'd be so beautiful. My stress level would go from 9000 to 1.

white rocket 04-11-2014 09:54 AM

^^^I'd move back to Richmond. LOL!!

bigzz786786 04-11-2014 10:14 AM

hell, vancouver might not be as attractive to them now knowing they'd have have to go through the L/N stage....that alone could take them 10 years before they could drive on their own lol

FerrariEnzo 04-11-2014 10:40 AM

I think richmond would become a ghost town if all these richmond drivers were kicked off the road.. lmao.. business closing down, etc.... :ilied:

I don't think were thinking widespread enough, there is an entire spectrum of business which could die due to this.

Right off the bat I can only imagine the number of autobody and repair shops that would close down due to lack of business.

As with the people who could be killed from them not knowing how to drive due to this

-edit

in the past on this forum its been "chinese are here to stay, like it or not we're taking over. dont like it? move out". well, now that the tables have possibly turned, its the breaks of life. if shops have to close down...close down and set up shop elsewhere.

Go lobby the government or w/e, but if we can't validate your license you shouldn't be able to drive here. PERIOD.

I dont know how fed up you guys are, but if we all are serious about POSITIVE change in the community and road I would love to see real action and will participate as well.

I am not saying in any way that China drivers have to go, but there needs to be validation for licenses etc. I understand the mainlanders get a lot of slack, but I am talking about positive change in regards to ALL visitors / soon to be residences here. So I am not asking for a witch hunt.

Anyone have any ideas, or at least a place for us as a group to start this?

I am dead serious, I want to improve the laws here, especially being a motorcyclist OUR LIVES are literally at stake due to ICBC's sloppiness/laziness/disregard. It should anger the local legal drivers here, and we should do something about it.

icbc is the devile when i missed my road test i could book another one in days after i went there and did not pass after paying their cancelation fee i had to wait months to take another test

Nothing to do with anything man.

Thats just the ICBC first come first serve appts. If everyone is trying to get road tests in, there will be delays as with any appt. service. Are you asking for them to have more ICBC locations?

I feel there should definitely be more ICBC locations that do the motorcycle parking lot test, but the road tests have always been okay.

The trick is to check for appts. every day, because everyday people cancel and if youre quick enough you can nab that spot.

Another news

Thousands of Chinese could be living illegally in Richmond

BoostedBB6 04-12-2014 08:24 AM

The number of illegal workers/drivers/residence in Richmond is staggering.

Drivers are only a small part of the issue.
In my experience, people who "need" to drive will still drive even when it is not legal to do so.

boibuddha 04-12-2014 11:04 AM

If we can limit the insurance of non residents, they won't be able to drive for very long. No one in their right mind would let a crappy driver use their name for insurance.

Why should we let someone insure a car for a year if their license is only valid for 6 months? ICBC doesn't give a slightest care because they are pocketing the profits; they know very well that they are selling one year of service which will be null and void after six months. No valid license, no insurance sucker.

People won't drive knowing they will get pulled over as soon as their plate is scanned.

At the end of the day though, ICBC had control over the situation.

Although you have your point, I don't think we should see is as an eye for an eye thing. I think if anybody wants to drive in BC, they should get a valid BC driver's license for the fact that the rules of the road are much different than China.

Why shouldn't holders of foreign DLs be allowed to insure a car?

I agree. If you hold a foreign DL, you should only be able to purchase TOPs or insure a car for 6 months at a time. (No renewal upon expiry). This will cut out the amount of abuse in the system.

z3german 04-14-2014 08:32 AM

So have we decided to just talk about it and hope it gets better? I actually want to do something as a collective about it. I know there will be bad drivers everywhere fucking shit up, but if we could reduce the illegals as much as possible the chances of things going smoothly goes up.

Just this weekend I almost got T Boned twice. One idiot decided to reverse out his stall without even looking behind him. The other an intersection broke and was flashing reds on all sides (becomes 4 way stop) My turn to go, and this lady almost fucking blows through the light. :rukidding:

Its probably bias though, cause after reading this ICBC bullshit I feel I notice more bad drivers everywhere LOL
