Their both pretty good. I heard the orignal owners of Fraserview sold their store and opened up the Vancouver Meat Market a few doors down |

This is extreme, but if and when you do a taste test, please grill them separately and cleanse your palette with lime or something and report back!

I'm surprised there is no mention of meat shops in Surrey. The EI population here is huge. Posted via RS Mobile |

Until then, that'd be a much further drive than Fraser St or East Burnaby if you live in Van/Burnaby.

I'll offer up some insight.
If you're looking for Indian wings that have a good amount of heat, look no further than the special hot wings at Mann Bros meats on Scott rd and 86ave. They're tasty but hot. If you've ever eaten at wings its about as hot as their Jakarta wings.
When it comes to marinated leg and thigh, I haven't found anything amazing, which is why I'm kind of puzzled with all this talk about Vancouver meat market. If highfive comes back with high praise, I will make the drive into Vancouver to see what all the hype is about. Posted via RS Mobile |

I understand the standard ways of cooking indian meats, but has anyone other than myself ever just coated the meat in flour and deep frying it? Its amazing by the way, if you haven't tried it. Posted via RS Mobile |

I have tried Fraserview meat in Burnaby, Vanouver, Mann Meat in Surrey and Garcha Meat in Surrey.
Mann Meat Shop on Scott had better quality meat, it cooks quicker and is much more tastey, and yes their wings are SUPER hot. Garcha is not bad but when I venture across the bringe my meat shop of choice is Mann Meat. They have a cream malie chicken which has white marinate unreal flavor!
I think the amount of turnover in meat in Surrey helps the taste since it is usually fresh.
The Kashmiri chicken at the Vancouver Meat shop is pretty good too!

I usually go to the fraserview on Main St. Their wings and the butter chicken breasts are pretty good to bbq.
I just want to try a different meat shop and see some variety.
Going to wait for the next sunny day and I will see how my findings going to be.

Is it possible to buy the spices pre-made and to marinate the meats yourself? I ask because if that is possible, you can at least buy the freshest meats possible. Someone mentioned turnover and that is just as important, being able to gauge how quickly their inventory/stock turns over. Nothing is worse than old, rotting meat.

Do the marinated meats tend to burn on a hot grill?
I guess medium low heat?
Bought some wings today at the Vancouver meat market after hearing it from you guys here.

Mann Bros on scott road has dropped in quality over the years. Original owners of that one opened a new one 152 and frasher hwy area. Their quality is much better but it's also a bit of a drive away from scott road. Avoid the garcha bros shop on scott and 75 ave. Not sure if it even still exists but it used to be a front for something else. Could be legit now with new owners but don't know for sure.

The Scott road location has better hot wings but the Fraser highway location has better masala wings.
I've been to garcha meats once and was not a fan so I haven't been back. Posted via RS Mobile |

Bought some wings today at the Vancouver meat market after hearing it from you guys here. | You always wanna cook chicken on a lower heat for a decent amount of time, that way it cooks through and isn't just charred on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Preserves the tenderness, especially with marinated meats.

^I go for medium to medium high usually, if its bigger pieces of chicken I usually do medium/medium high then switch over to indirect heat for awhile.
Usually takes ~15-20 mins? They taste best when cooked on my mini camping grill, believe it or not (maybe my grill just sucks)
I like it a bit charred though

On my Weber, I always cook the tandoori and chicken in general on low heat the entire time, chicken burns easily. If you cook it on medium to high i find it tends to totally burn the chicken and char the crap out of it. On low and occasionally turning them cooks the best, it doesn't burn as easy and retains all the jucies!

The meat at those shops should be very fresh because they move a ton of it. I wish we had a Indian meat shop in Nanaimo.
