Anybody read the fine print where it said something like "if you keep the same car live in the same area and have same insurance and you underpaid, you may see your insurance rise"? This means icbc will be recouping the cost anyway?

I compared with a friend and his rate group was different than mine. That's likely why :concentrate:

My coworker got a letter saying that he had been overcharged by X, but since he owed them X it cancelled out so they sent him nothing :suspicious:

My guess is they overcharged him for his current vehicle but undercharged him for his previous one?

Edison_Chen 08-27-2014 09:03 PM

Counld the person owe ICBC debt? I've heard that they won't bill people back, however the refund will deducted if he/she owes icbc debt.

Got the same letter today. Apparently they had my vehicle description wrong. Let me see if I got this right.

ICBC discovers they have over charged customers for years
Says they will pay customers back.
No mention of under charging customers
Out of the blue months later, oh hey we also under charged a lot of you as well. Don't worry we will adjust your insurance accordingly when you renew next time.

Bunch of wankers. I get the feeling Vaseline will be needed when I renew in a couple months.

Undercharged customers were mentioned. When the Minister for ICBC did his 'I knew nothing about this and I'm very upset about it' speech, he stated that ICBC shouldn't be going after people who were undercharged before.

As of today Aug 29 - link to check my vehicle description...

"The Check My Vehicle tool is no longer available."

:failed:

fliptuner 08-29-2014 10:19 AM

It's been like that for a long time. You have to call in to check. They were mailed last week so chances are, if you haven't received anything yet, you won't.

underscore 08-29-2014 11:31 PM

I'm guessing they aren't doing anything for people who have moved out of the province hey?

I just received a cheque from ICBC today. Out of the 10 different cars that I've owned since 2008, 8 were charged correctly, one was undercharged by $154 and one was overcharged by $8. The cheque was for $8:)

WOW! Congrats.

What are you going to do with your incredible and unexpected windfall?

a90a93 10-27-2014 02:50 PM

It's all happened so suddenly. I really need to take time to process it. I'm thinking early retirement :)
