Picking between two jobs. Hey guys, I've been given two opportunities this summer to work. Being a student this is a great opportunity for me. Option 1: $22.40/hr for 5 weeks at 27.5 hours a week. Shift time range from 10am-5pm. Option 2. $12.50/hr for 8 weeks at 35 hours a week. Shift is from 8:30am-3:30pm. Both options I get to work with peers. Option 1 I have the opportunity to create activities and plan out myself how I will run things. Option 2 is more structured and I follow more of a routine. End in end, option 2 makes a tad bit of extra cash. Would you guys choose more money over an opportunity to run things how you want to run things? Or less money but you're in control? I hope I've given out enough information. Hopefully you guys can help me make my decision. |
Really depends on your life routine. Are you planning to do anything else besides work? Hows the travel? Are you willing to wake up at 10AM or 830AM? if money is a big factor for you? Would you rather get off work early or late? Posted via RS Mobile |
Travel time is roughly the same for both, not a big enough difference to include it as a variable.I do plan on going to the gym also. So probably getting off early would work better for me. Posted via RS Mobile |
Option 1 |
Seems like option 1 would be better, not just because of the pay, but I think you can get more learning/experience out of it |
Option 1. Better learning experience you get to plan things out on your own. You're working less hours but with a higher wage. You get more time to sleep in. That's a plus :P Yeah sure option 2 makes a bit more money, but you're going to be working your butt off every morning for it lol! and you don't really get to challenge yourself at all since you're following instructions |
Don't forget to factor in that with #2, you have to pay for commuting costs and possibly meals out, for an extra 3 weeks. Plus, you get 3 weeks more free time with option #1. |
go for option 1. money is basically the same but you have way more time. time is worth something too. folks forget that way too much. and if gym is a concern, you can always go to the gym before work. |
Option 1 sounds much better. Does either option relate better to what you plan to do as a career? |
Option 1. Then you can blow all your money in the 3 extra weeks of time off. |
Option 1 |
Option 1 seems better as (from your limited description) there will be learning opportunities regarding organization and prioritization which would look great on your resume. One question I have... are both companies similar in size and reputation? |
not sure why your even debating. obvs option 3. in all srsness, option 1 for sure. |
same company , just two different fields almost. i've gone with option 1! thanks for the feed back guys! |
Option 1 I have the opportunity to create activities and plan out myself how I will run things. Even if you got paid $12 I'd tell you go with that. You'll learn a lot more when you do things for yourself! |
Option 1 because then afterwards, you will have time to find another contract. Hopefully paying just as much or more. |
Option 1 |
