Stagea 260rs Autech Edition http://www.j-spec.com.au/SEVS/images...agea_C34_1.jpg |
Hah Thanks for all the advice guys. S15 is gorgeous but it doesn't meet my AWD standard. I do lots of snowboarding and overall driving so it's a big no. I am currently considering an EVO for sure now. After browsing the auction today, I am in love with the EVO V or VI. example: http://i60.tinypic.com/1249a82.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/34y36ki.jpg In my opinion it's a beauty. |
what about evo 4? this 1 is the best price ive seen so far for a landed jdm evo 1996 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV GSR. $6,850 ! - JDMVIP Forums JDM Japanese Cars Import Used Auctions |

^^the problem with that is that a lot of cars arrive with issues that you didnt foresee. Many importers bring in cars for their local inventory that have rod knock or slipping clutch and they have to fix it. Problem is if you do the importing then you may face the issues that these businesses face with taking a risk. Better to buy a landed 1 imo. |

I guess so. But.. isn't that the fun part. Getting parts, grabbing some friends together and working on your car. Learning about it. I see it that way. Since I have a daily I'm not too concerned if it has some issues. And I'm 100% sure it will have issues. I still feel like I can get the car at a much cheaper price myself than buying a local one. |
^^This. My first time doing it I said I'd never do it again but the whole process is fun. Seeing the car the first time in person just makes it so worth it. I stood out on the docks for 3 hours in blowing snow and huge winds and I couldn't feel my toes or fingers, but was trembling in excitement to see it roll out of the holding area for the first time (maybe I was just cold lol). Its a great feeling when you finally get in it to drive it away for the first time.:fullofwin::fullofwin: |

If you can afford the VI go for it over the V...waaaay better model. Best handling evo period. The IVs and some Vs suffered from crank walk issues so you are taking a risk with that model. Once you drive a VI no other evo compares. They are rare cars and will only get more expensive as time goes by...you will not lose money on a car like this in the years to come. |

I am purposely putting myself on a strict budget because I know it's very easy to get carried away and next thing I know I'm in over my head. I am searching for a GF8 or an EVOVI OR V. Love both. GF8 is very practical (WAGON) but that Evo.... *drool*. I will update this thread if I win an auction ASAP. Cheers :) Thank you all for your help and suggestions. |
Getting parts for a subaru would be far easier than an evo in Canada. You should keep that in mind when choosing a JDM car. I just brought a bugeye STI wagon in HK to restore and finding parts is a pain in the ass. I ended up spending more than I would like for the whole project, cuz I simply can't find used parts (non-wear and tear parts, like front grille, fenders, lip, etc) and ended up getting brand new ones. |
I have wanted a black Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI since at least since 2000 when I saw Taxi 2... As a previous STi owner, looking at your requirements and the things you are considering I think the best car by FAR would be the Evo VI... that said, more money up front for less mileage and a better condition car will save you MUCH more than that over the next few years in necessary maintenance, etc. |
The only thing that you'll have to source outside of North america are exterior parts for a VI in something were to happen. Ebay is your friend for oem exterior stuff. Even coilovers can be sourced in North America. All model evos use the 4G63, the IV and up can interchange 95% of the parts so you'll have no problem sourcing oem and aftermarket parts for a VI. The VI does have a different intake manifold from the US market cars but it's a direct swap should you need to change. In any case all high end intake manifolds like the AMS F1 bolt right in. I helped build a 400whp VI 8 years ago when my friend was just doing bolt ons and changed the GSR turbo on his VI for the td05hr-16G6C from a IX (10.5T hotside single flapper) and all the parts were sourced from the US. The car is now making 800whp on race gas via an AMS 950R and full shep stage III gearbox and transfer case: http://imageshack.us/a/img837/7393/gbs1.jpg These are amazing cars...and you will not regret getting one. |

Toyota Century, because V12 and uniqueness. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Century_01.jpg Then VIP it. Would probably be the only one on the road. http://www.speedhunters.com/wp-conte...ip7_t3fW_3.jpg Edit: I'm a fan of big German boats, but if I went for an RHD JDM car, this would be the one. |
I've been on the S15 Spec R searching wagon for about 6 months now. I have 10K to spend and im finding it really hard to spot anything worthwhile. If ya can save up, do it, They're fantastic! I have one back in NZ and it was a dream to drive. If you're as picky as me, you'll need about 15K for a decent Spec R these days |
^lol |
If you think you can get a clean, low mileage, Evo V that doesnt have a Rebuilt status for 300,000 yen....good luck dude |
