Excessive exhaust noise? Was thinking of getting a CBE for my 09 WRX, and was thinking of picking up the invidia N1 streets, however, do you guys think they may be too loud? Especially just recently the police are trying to catch people with exhausts that are too loud. Would you guys recommend something else? |
I've got the N1 street. Its loud but not crazy loud like the N1 Race. Cruising speeds are fine and there isnt an annoying drone on the highway or at idle. But if you WOT, its really loud. My friend has the N1 race and recently got a VI for excessive noise. I recommend you to get the Street over the Race. If you are too paranoid still, take a look at other CBE brands. N1 is one of the loudest and obnoxious type you can buy. |
I had the invidia N1 race, it's not that loud until you get on the gas. Just recently swapped over the Tomei Expreme TI which is far louder during driving, but far quieter during idle thanks to the res. |

When tested in an inspection station, the vehicle engine, any auxiliary engine and exhaust level shall not exceed Table 3 standards. |
I had the Invidia N1 Race on my WRX for a bit. I ended up getting a couple warnings by the cops but no VI. As time went by, I ended up swapping it out and now have a much quieter one; Greddy EVO2 Just grew up and couldn't stand the loud noise anymore especially my gf. I do miss that exhaust though, angle exhaust and burnt blue tip |
The WRX will fall into light duty vehicle. So looks like you can't go louder than 83 decibels...which is pretty quiet. |
I'll give one thing to the N1 race, however... its quieter than my straight pipe/cherrybomb combo. |
As a general rule, any exhaust with "N1" in its name should be avoided if you're an old fart who listens to Kenny G. in the bath. |
N1 Street is definately quiet than Race. But, of course the point loud exhaust is for maxmium gains. Have you considered the Q300? , it is about 100$ more than N1 street, not sure if it fits your budget (if you have one) |

my dual q300 on the s2000 went past 83db during idle when I was standing 3 meters away. My neighbour sent his 5 year boy to my house to talk to me a couple days ago....now I gotta basically roll my car down my hill in neutral to avoid them complaining. I can't imagine a N1 when the q300 is suppose to be the quietest of all Invidia exhausts and the N1's are basically infamous for being crazy loud. |
