looking for recommendations on backup camera

i had one of these installed in my dad`s car less than 2 years ago.

i don`t know the brand anymore but it was chinese-made. i think i paid something like 90 bucks for it plus install. it was working well enough until recently it started fogging up and then the flaking powdercoat started. it turns out water has been getting into the camera and condensation is clouding up the lens. so now i need to find another one.

orgasm donor suggested a pioneer camera, and the reviews i found online about its performance is very good, but others warned me that it is easy to steal?

anyone else have any suggestions on a good reliable/durable backup camera?

Pioneers, Kenwoods, Clarions and Alpines I've found all to be very good. Price usually starts around $250 and goes up from there.

Most people go with the Chinese stuff based on price, but in my many years I've encountered very few big brand cameras with issues. Chinese one's I've encountered alot more issues.

IMO, I think its better to buy a better quality camera, vs. having to keep replacing a camera couple years or so.

My Boyo on my 350Z has been going strong for nearly 4 years now. My Pioneer on my Fit is going to last even longer I'm sure. These cameras have a waterproof rating believe it or not and the Pioneer is one of the best as far as this rating goes. I can't remember what it was but I know its 3-4X better than most decent brands.

Ya get what ya pay for!

mike,

which boyo are you using? i googled and there were so many versions...

BOYO Vision Rearview Backup Cameras | Vehicle Cameras | Car Video & GPS | Car Audio at Sonic Electronix

i forgot to add... would very much like to have something that works at night. not sure if that means night vision-capable?

You should try the ND-BC6 if you want a good camera. the 4 is CMOS. Not that great. CCD is the better way to go

We sell them for $200 in Canada, minus your 10% Revscene discount. This includes our famous "over-the-counter-exchange" policy. Would you like one this weekend?

this weekend not good (mother's day). i tried a few weeks back to make an appointment with mike but his sat schedule was too full.

will install be difficult/long? not sure if the installed wiring for the existing camera can be reused?
