Standard cut out size for 5.25" speakers? I am cutting some mdf rings for some fiberglass speaker pods I want to make tonight, but I only have an old school set of MB Quard 5.25s to base it off of. MB Quart hardly uses standard sizes at the best of times. I need to know what would be some good standard measurements for both the inner and outer diameter of modern 5.25 speakers cutouts/rings, not including grills. please and thank you |
Can you measure the parameters? |

these are going on the fairing of a motorcycle. I haven't picked out a final pair of speakers to use because I want to use my old-school speakers for a while, and only switch them out if they crap out or dont meet my expectations. I just need some good, universal dimensions to use for cutting out the mdf rings, so i have the most options to drop 5.25 speakers in, in the future. I chose 5.25 because it is pretty common and not so huge as a 6.5 to look awful on the bike. |
5.25" speakers always have the same mounting holes. I wouldn't worry. Quote:

We carry JL Audio. I looked up the speaker's mounting specifications for you here: TR525-CXi - Car Audio - Evolution® - TR - Coaxial Systems - JL Audio As you can see, the mounting diameter is 4.56". That's pretty standard nowadays as Installerz had said earlier. |
