so i uncovered it today and started it up. i love the bike, i hate the motor. so i will start to think of motors to swap over. 1. i want to keep the wheels/tires/tank etc. i like the old look and old technology of it. 2. i want a 4 cylinder, 4 carbed, 4 stroke air cooled motor 3. id LOVE water cooled, but a radiator just wont fit on a small ass bike like this. 4. i'd LOVE to be able to find a bike like that with a kick start, but i dont think that even exists. 5. i have no problem chopping the frame up a bit, but the less the better. https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8572/...68ee572a_c.jpgUntitled by 320iCar, on Flickr |
Excellent work! |
Bump. Huge power outages at work so came home early. Thought I should take the cover off and try to kick this thing over. I unplugged the auto oiler and blocked it off. Chose to try pre-mix to maybe track down this over heating issue that I just gave up on. Well, started first kick, warmed up great and rode it around the hood a couple times with no issues what so ever. Very strong sounding. Video was literally 10 seconds after I fired it up. So cold idling isn't an issue. Maybe I should insure it. Hell its so cheap |
Is it just me or does that thing not have carb? So confuse. |
its a stupid setup that is begging for overheating issues. i'll find you some pics. .....googling.... alright, if you look at this picture i'll post below, you will see an aluminum cover on the side of the motor that is branded kawasaki? the carb is right under that. the air filter on top of the motor is where air is drawn in. then it gets sucked through the entire engine cover and then eventually gets sucked into the carbs. i'll also post a picture with these covers off. http://www.streetbikerider.us/Pics8/...-92-481949.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps6ecb7bbe.jpg |
That's the weirdest fucking thing.... So does it do that as a vacuum type thing or were the engineers just being weirdos? |
I'm fucking done with it. - swapped plugs for colder plugs - ripped apart the carb again - tuned the carb, running like a fucking top now ........... - kept blowing fuses. - my rear LED light was shorting out, replaced with new light - fuel hose cracked, replaced with new one - turn signals stopped working - ripped apart the bike, every bulb but the headlight was blown. Replaced them all - replaced flasher relay - used multimeter to follow wires testing as I go -......... Turn signals still don't work I'm done. I have no love left for this thing. Anyone want a very strong running bike with a bunch of new parts on it? |
Have you tried wiring in LED-friendly resistors? Sparckmoto (great guy) has some for cheap. |
I don't run anything LED on the bike right now |
Regardless of what direction you go from here - serious props for all of the work/energy that you have put into the project. The bike looks terrific. |
