Charge devices on your bike for under $5 Hello everyone, Here is my how-to on making your bike capable of charging your devices for under $5 a.k.a Phones, GPS, i-Products. ect.. Here is what I started off with but as you can see I bought a Y-connector $2.99 (From Princess Auto) and if you already have connectors you are set. I went a little over kill because I thought I would have to solder and use shrink wrap but that was not the case. Extra: Feel free to add a in-line fuse if you like to. :D Bike:GZ250 and CBR600rr ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...ps2a919711.jpg This is my random shopping list, some random stuff I did not have on me so I had to purchase some new supplies for the garage. I would expect the bike lovers here to have some tools. ;) ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...ps500e1f0b.jpg Here we go, SNIP! ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...ps1bfa22cd.jpg Press my connectors. ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...ps93c42983.jpg All connected! ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...ps4ba7eea4.jpg It lives ! ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g67/Tsukkie/20140520_201714_zps8e32c930.jpg[/IMG] ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...ps7e79e611.jpg Slide it out a little bit so you don't drain your battery. ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...ps9ac2d554.jpg On the CBR. :D :concentrate: ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...ps8cee4e86.jpg Thread through the fairing and waa-laa! ----- http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g6...psd2ff4560.jpg THANKS FOR VIEWING ! |
I was gonna hate, but that's pretty good. Did you think about running it through a fuse though? |
I did think that when I was at Princess auto BUT, I thought "Hey if it's going to fail, the usb adapter is just going to fail." I would assume (Not sure actually) it has like a small fuse inside the adapter it self. EDIT: A quick google search that some adapters do have fuses, no biggie ! EDIT2: No guarantees if there are fuses in the power adapter for GPS though. |

I can appreciate the DIY aspect, I like doing things myself as well when I'm able. Saying that, I was going to buy one of these, it plugs right into the wires for the battery tender, I was thinking of having it come up near the front of my bike, get a RAM mount so I can plug my camera, phone or gps into it if desired. why not break the negative and run it on a switch so you dont have to pull it out.. i never pull out  |
Here is something you can plug into it Spotted: Do-It-Yourself LED Strip Helmet Illumination http://cdn.rideapart.com/wp-content/...522_120841.jpg |
im planning to do this on my r6 and instead of hooking it to the battery, gonna splice it with the taillights wires. So when I turn off the bike, it would turn off too. |
... if you do that, use a relay. your wiring will thank you. |
Yeah throw an inline fuse on that mang. |

GREAT IDEAS FROM EVERYONE THOUGH, It definitely helps anyone else who is interested in cheap modifications like these. |
