I guess we're all VLS+ members now so......................let the vacuum talk continue.....

any Dyson heads on here? They look awesome but would like to hear some user feedback. Not sure if I'm ready to enter the world of upright vacuums though a la "the ball" that they offer. My Miele(or whatever the fuck) is a nice canister style and has great pivot points so you can lay the wand and tool flat to get under furniture. Not sure I'd want to give that up but I think Dyson offers canister styles as well.

We had a Rainbow but also a Dirt Devil as a 'daily beater'. :lol

Dyson's products, especially their vacuums are cool and nice to have, but for the fraction of the price a Miele performs just the same.

The ball works well for pivot points and if you have a larger area to vacuum. The detachable wand and tools for the upright ball canisters are flimsy and don't work well.

Have you considered the handheld vacuums with the extensions?

I find Dyson's make it somewhat enjoyable to vacuum because of the clear canister and vortex. :toot: If you are adamant in purchasing a Dyson, checkout CL for some good deals.

I have no excuse for not catching that one. hahaha

Friend of mine bought a Dyson from some guy on Craigslist - got ripped off. The damn thing broke in 2 months and of course, she was out of warranty. Ironically, she told me the guy drove a BMW. Funny how they both work great at first, then fail miserably. :suspicious:

But c'est la vie - her fault for "trying to save a few bucks."

IMASA 05-28-2014 02:59 PM

I have a Dyson, the canister style that has a ball, DC23 I think.

I was pissed that the wife spent $600 on a vaccumm cleaner, but it actually works pretty good. The ball makes it roll around very easy and smoothly, makes the cleaning experience lot easier. I only have experience with those built-in-house vaccums and it was a chore to lug the hose from room to room and the hose would get stuck around wall corners.

Best part is, wife loves it = she does the vaccumming around the house.

nabs 05-28-2014 03:12 PM

I want the dyson ball vac, mine is heavy and bulky I think the brand is Shark Vac or something, we also have those built in vaccuums at my house but it's never worked.

fliptuner 05-28-2014 03:32 PM

For those of you considering getting a Dyson, don't forget, their refurbs include 2yr warranty and free shipping.

Ironically enough, my house only has 1 room with carpet. :lol

damn you guys like to ball out on vacuum cleaners.

It's what happens when you get older / grow up. Instead of spending money on air intakes, N1 exhausts and Neuspeed springs, you drop that hard earned cash on Miele, Dirt Devil, and Dyson vacuums. The ROI is just insane, especially when you plot your finances into a scatter plot and then calculate the amortization. Man, I could go on but I don't want to get guys like slowguy and white rocket too excited. :sweetjesus:

Trust me - I know it sounds crazy but it is some of the most satisfying shit you can ever do when you're old! It doesn't even have to make sense! :accepted:

Edit: noobs - gtfo.

bcrdukes 05-28-2014 10:30 PM

Oh man, the new weekly flyers come out tomorrow! I heard Canadian Tire is having a garden sale and they're willing to beat Home Depot and Rona's prices by an extra 10%?! So excite! :woot2:

Man, I love this thread! Such serious business!

TOS'd 05-29-2014 12:32 AM

This thread has potential.

You know you're a VLS+ member when you get into gardening and growing your own vegetables.

You know you're a VLS+ member when you appreciate the simple things in life, like a stranger's baby smiling at you.

Pee all over it so they already know its mine.

white rocket 05-30-2014 07:48 AM

It's lawn mowing day today after work! Now that I'm in a house after doing the apartment and townhouse thing all my life I just love stuff like this. Pulling weeds, trimming the edges, trying different lawn mower designs in the grass, etc.

As a dual dog owner, both female and older so their piss is super acidic/high pH count, I try to carry a bottle of water with me during walks so I can pour it on their pee spot to dilute it a bit to prevent the grass from burning.
