How to remove fine scratches?

When I purchased my car, it was very dirty and my Aunt trying to be funny wrote "clean me" on the trunk with her finger. After washing the car, there are very fine scratches that only show up in sunshine.

Any tips on products/methods/techniques for removal?
Thanks

If they are very very fine like swirl marks, just get a microfiber cloth and fine polish. Depends on how deep it is though.

Hell where in maple ridge are you, I just bought a bottle.

yeah I just use the meguir's stuff from canadian tire + microfibre to get out any scratches and then put some wax over and it usually looks good as new

I find it easier to use a foam applicator pad with the product then wipe off with a microfibre

Give me a call and swing by. I'll polish them out for you.

I use Meguiar's ScratchX 2.0 which is available at any Canadian Tire. It's less than $15 bucks and you use a foam applicator pad to blend it over the scratched area.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Apparently ScratchX® 2.0 can help you to temporary "conceal" the scratch with filler as it will come out again after several washes.

Your best bet would be seeing Ken as he can polish out the scratch permanently

Thanks for all the advice!

btw, who's ken? (probably a noob question...)

Ken is a local famous auto detailer and he is a sponsor on this forum.

and he's also 911fanatic here (who was the 4th reply to the OP's posting) :P

I've read that the more current iterations of ScratchX no longer contains fillers.

kind of hijacking this thread. My uncle just got a new Toyota tundra and somebody keyed it while it was parked on the street will this work for deeper scratches want to make it a little less visible

if other layers of the paint is showing through there isnt much except paint that can fix it, if its not too deep a real good cut can minimize it but its not going away..

why doesnt he go through icbc?

Jas29 07-01-2014 12:13 AM

he doesn't know yet hes gone to Toronto for the week. My cousin wants to get it fixed before he comes back...

If you can catch your fingernail in the scratch, it'll be too deep to remove with polishing. Got any pics?

Gregboat 07-19-2014 10:51 AM

Its probably gonna be your best bet to have him go to ICBC when he's back...
