asian_XL 07-06-2014 06:38 AM

once the prime model is out, people will say wait another 1 month for the Note4 and 2 months for iphone 6, 3 months for Nexus whatever, then Sony will have Z3 ready by Dec...lol then Snapdragon 810 in Jan.

Tr1ll 07-06-2014 09:09 AM

Can't play the waiting game with technology. Too many new products coming out all the time.

My Rogers G2 works on Fido without unlocking.
Long ago I had a locked Galaxy from Rogers which I use on Fido.

Not sure if it works the other way around tho.

Tr1ll 08-07-2014 10:24 AM

Picked up a G3 today. Goodbye Nexus 4.

So the Cat6 seems to be a good idea due to the more efficient 805 in it

1) does anyone know the bands supported?

2) will roms for the 801 not work with this 805 ver or should they be identical. If this doesn't get a NA release, development may be far and few.

The camera looks very cool.

Going back to Hong Kong in a week and if it is around $5300 HK I would pick one up. Question is where is a good store to buy it from? Heard on the news there are lot's of stores selling fake ones......

asian_XL 09-02-2014 06:06 PM

^ it is now $4000 for the Cat6 G3, price is dropping crazy.

LG G3 users in Canada start receiving Lollipop update | MobileSyrup.com

Anyone using the LG G3? Fido have a pretty good deal now... However I read reports that when comparing to the S5 it seems to lag a lot since is has a 2k screen and the CPU is not powerful enough for it and also the screen is not bright enough in sunlight.

I went from note 3 to G3, the G3 feels more comfortable in the hand but the note 3 was definitely snappier. The camera on the G3 is miles ahead of both Note3/GS5 coming from someone who's owned both. The "laser autofocus" is gimmicky though, I think the S5's AF was actually better.
Also with the "32GB" hard drive you only get about 24gb usable lol.
AFAIK most Fido corporate stores are sold out of G3 but yeah it is the phone to get on a smart plan, dunno why their S5 is so overpriced.

I like the features like knock on but everytime I pick up another smartphone I'm trying to tap it to turn on. Battery life is not bad, I get 4h of screen time consistently with it but I'm a heavy user so it still doesn't get me through a day :$
Oh unlock code was also only $2-3 and worked for me no problem.
If you're a Fido customer and looking at used Rogers phones you won't need unlock code for 99% of android phones.

I'm using the G3 right now as well. I don't get the sense the processor can't handle the screen, more that the skin is quite heavy.
Overall standby time is incredible IMO, I can go to sleep with 100% and wake up with either 100%-99%. Just got a lollipop update notification today as well which supposedly improves performance.

I don't find the screen brightness too dim but it definitely isn't as bright as my nexus 5 was

On that note, can anyone confirm which software version we got for lollipop?
Supposedly 20h offers good battery life compared to other versions

Razor Ramon HG 02-25-2015 12:17 PM

I have the Korean LG G3.

Updated to Lollipop a while ago.

The second update on Lollipop broke my WiFi. Sometimes it constantly connects and disconnects.

Mr.HappySilp 02-25-2015 01:08 PM

Looks like to deal form Fido is over. Before you can get it for $50 on a 2 year smart plan. Now is back to $100 which is not worth it.

fliptuner 02-25-2015 01:26 PM

$50-$100 isn't a deal breaker, imo.

I renewed my contract for 2 years cause there's nothing comparable out anyways. Got the phone and a car charger for $50, sold it and using the cash towards an M9 when it comes out.

I updated earlier. We have 20c

bobola 02-25-2015 03:05 PM

^ Is actually build : LRX21Y
Even tho it says 20c when it was updating,

Phone does not lag, but is not butter smooth like you get with the nexus devices.

!Yaminashi 02-25-2015 03:09 PM

How had battery life been in relation to the improved performance? I've heard standby time took a bit of a tumble

Yeah, but he asked for software version, not the build.

I THINK the standby time got worse..too early to tell. Gonna charge my phone to 100% first and see. Battery charging seems faster, or I just never paid much attention to the speed previously.
