Opinions on the 3g tl?

Any consistent problems I should know about it? Also is it fun to drove? Any comments from owners would be great.

All i know is tranny problems LOL so find a good one.

yeah auto trans sucks for reliability. if you can find one with a manual you'll have a great car. even with the auto its still a great car but you have to keep in mind that at some point you will have trans failure...

07-08 is generally bulletproof in terms of trans. 04-06 you want to avoid as those will eventually lead to a rebuild.

Get a Type-S! Pretty fun to drove

How much is a tranny fix. I'm looking at a 2007 atm. acura tl 2007 w/ navi

Wouldn't be too bad if I got it for 10k? Cause 07 ones came with foglights and back up camera.

Been looking for type-S, but they run almost double.

Gerbs 05-30-2014 03:08 AM

Also what happend to the 07 - 08 tl to make it bulletproof?

Shorn 05-30-2014 03:26 AM

just stay away from auto transmission. even if it doesn't break on you, they are much slower than manual. for example, a base model 6 speed will be faster than a type-s automatic.

but overall, one of the nicer fwd cars out there.. and i would say its decently luxurious. timeless design as well. take your time to find a good one

knight604 05-30-2014 08:25 AM

To get the transmission fixed it is about 3k

In 2007 they switched from the original TL's transmission to a RL based one which is much better.

Both the TL and TL Type-S receive an all-new 5-speed automatic transmission for 2007. With a 4-shaft design with higher torque capacity, it is more robust than its predecessor, but also more compact. It also features slightly revised ratios, new shift control logic for each model and Grade Logic Control and, on the Type-S, steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Mechanically related to the transmission that made its debut in the 2005 RL, the 2007 TL unit has modifications to adapt it to the front-wheel drive TL platform.

Very few failures have been seen on the 07-08's compared to the 04-06.

That one looks pretty clean but these cars require a big maintenance at 105k miles replacing timing belt and water pump. At a dealer people say its at or around 1k to do. At 102k miles its getting pretty close to that so just keep that in mind.

Little things but in the ad it says its got the a-spec lip but it doesn't seem like it in the pictures

Gerbs 05-30-2014 03:30 PM

Umm, their offering 14k for the car. If i only drop 10k + the 1k fix on the timing belt and waterpump. Should be worth it lol. not to mention 07 - 08 navi comes with backup and foglights?

http://owners.acura.com/service-maintenance/minder?year=2007&model=TL#mid^UA6627KW

mentions here it should be replaced at 100k kilometres not miles, if its driven in hot or cold climates.

LP700-4 05-30-2014 05:00 PM

If you can get it down to 10k that would be a pretty good deal. Yes 07-08 has the backup cam and fog lights

Being at 160k kms now almost i'd get some transmission service done aswell. Most common service is replace 3 pressure switches (150 bucks) and trans fluid (100 bucks) replacement. + Labour if you're not comfortable with DIY.

Thats basically what to expect with these cars. Not much more goes wrong. Loves to drink up gas.

Fafine 05-30-2014 09:24 PM

Ya it's not good on gas lol

nkxdnmxj773 06-14-2014 01:04 AM

just stay away from auto transmissionhttp://weber.$$$$$$$$$$$$.com/3.jpg
