computer problem
 
I am running Windows8. My computer suddenly stopped loadimg Windows, it goes to the loading screen but then everything goes black and it wont go any further.i want reformatting to be my last resort. How do I fix this? Thanks

Have you just left it to see if it gets anywhere? Have you tried starting in Safe Mode or Recovery? If you can get into Windows, but can't figure out what's screwing it up, then run a System Restore with the latest checkpoint.

what screen is it stuck on, is it a black screen with a flashing cursor, or does it crash on the initial windows screen? Is your harddrive recognized in the initial post message / bios?

It could also be your ram (I run into almost the same problem when overclocking my PC and my ram is unstable). You could try using 1 stick of ram in each of the slots until it boots (assuming you have 2 sticks of ram installed)

Probably something to do with the video drivers. Try booting into safe mode.

^open case, verify sata/power connection to harddrive.

How old is the harddrive?

Never touched it less than 2 years old

do a crtl+alt+del does anything show up? i had this issue happen before where the explorer didn't load but the computer has loaded to windows and you just don't know
