Police Style Lights/Strobes

Whenever I ask about putting police style lights or strobes on my car, I get all sorts of answers.

Some say its legal
Some say its not
Some say that it varies by what your doing

I'm curious if anybody knows any links or info relating to what can and cant be done to a vehicle.

thanks

Greg...why? Why Greg? Why?

You want police strobes on your car... Join the police department.

instead of getting police lights just mount the headlights from a 01 crown victoria to your hood -- will scare the shit out of all the stoners driving late at night

do you even boat greg?
you phony

Enjoy that Impersonating a Police Officer charge, brah.

tiger_handheld 06-02-2014 08:58 PM

hey greg, is your boat called gregboat? are you gonna put police strobes on your boat?

Actually, I was given a blue LED bar that's about 14 inches long and I want to mount behind the black honey comb grill on my car. The light has two functions though, one is a steady light (which is why I want it, the other is strobe). The reason I made this thread is I am wondering if its illegal to have a light mounted on your car that has a strobe function.

No I am not trying to impersonate a police officer.....
And no I don't want a massive ridiculous light bar on my roof.
I guess I should have specified that ^

After giving it some thought, i have decided that if I go ahead and do lights behind my grill I am just going to buy a strip that doesn't have a strobe function. Might as well spend some money do it right.

And after reading my initial message on this thread, I realized how poorly worded it was.
your all absolutely right, it would be stupid to impersonate a police officer.
Sorry for the time waster, and thanks for helping me get my head straight on this one.

dont do it, you will get a ticket. i just got one because of my blue licence plate light:devil:

isnt the regulations same as having underglow? legal as long as your not using them while moving. and i dont know how they would see them otherwise.

i have strobes behind the grill, many people have lights/underglow without any tickets.
