Hello to all phone experts here

I have a used Fido phone and will lend to my friend from Hong Kong.

He will be here for 2 weeks and I would like to get him a sim card and get a data plan with voice. So I can contact him.

He will need to use Waze to drive around town. What kind of data plan (1GB or 2GB) and how many minutes of voice (local) is good enough for him ?

Also which carrier would you recommend ?

I will do it tomorrow.

Your friend can use an offline GPS navigation app on his smartphone.

If your phone is a Nexus line (Nexus4 or Nexus 5). Go with Wind. Cheapest for unlimited data and calls.

What is your experience with Wind like? Drops voice calls? Data speed?

Don't use wind but on their website they do list their coverage area. Some people here on RS do use them and report low to no singal in some areas. Also data speed will not be fast as Wind doesn't have LTE. They use HSPA.

wind is fucking garbage lol, rather have virgin

my mom switched to wind, we used their coverage map and coverage mapper (google it). We were covered but it was absolute shit waste of time LOL thank god she's not on a contract. Friends who worked for wind get free plans and don't even want to use their shitty network
