Detailed - 2004 Porsche 911 - Cobalt Blue

Detailed a friend's new to him 2004 Porsche 911 in Cobalt Blue. I really enjoyed this colour as it can take on a variety of different shades. Additionally, this car has an extremely 54k on the clock. The condition of the paint and interior testified to the well preserved nature of the vehicle.

Upon arrival:

After claybarring the car the biggest issue was holograms all over the car.

Only minor swirling under the sun.

Took her inside and decided a single stage polish was the best way to go as the overall condition of the car was good. Used Sonax Perfect Finish 4/6 on a Porter Cable.

A couple of 50/50's showing the difference.

The car is finished in a light grey interior. It was showing some minor wear but overall in excellent condition.

Cleaned up the driver's seat. A 50/50 showing the difference on the seat bottom.

Unfortunately the sun did not want to make an appearance today. So inside we go. Under the light finished shot after applying Blackfire Wet Diamond sealant topped with Optimum Car Wax.

Brought her outside for some finished shots - that deep blue really starts to pop.

A quick shot of the whole car. Tires dressed with Adam's Super VRT for a low-gloss look.

Absolutely a gem of a car in fantastic condition. I was kind of cold to Porsches through past experiences but after driving and spending a couple of days with this car, I'm smitten.

Hope I can find one in such good condition when I'm bored of the S2000 someday.

Anyways, thanks to the owner for letting me take a stab at cleaning her up.

Beautiful work, beautiful vehicle!

What do you use for the interior? I want the matte look for my leather.

bcrdukes 06-13-2014 04:35 PM

Nice work, Roach!

Side note: I think I've seen this car around town a few times. The owner is a bit of a douche. How do you know the guy? :suspicious:

I read "bored of S2000" so I came here too. :troll:

Impressive results from a single stage! What pad did you use?

El Bastardo 06-14-2014 08:51 PM

I wonder how that kind of treatment would make a Toyota Corolla look

Same result as waxing your fridge, I suppose.

westopher 06-14-2014 10:24 PM

I heard this car was actually a corolla with a 911 body dropped onto the frame.

BrRsn 06-14-2014 11:20 PM

i heard it was just a bunch of spare bicycle parts and a 15 year old kenyan kid peddling and making the noises

Hey Energy, I use this combination of products/technique.

http://www.detailersdomain.com/DIY-E...ing_b_331.html

As I'm sure you may not want to spend that much on buying the machine/brush, I would recommend trying an OTC product like Lexol Leather cleaner first:

- Spray on to the surface and use a lot of elbow grease to scrub the surface for 30 seconds to a minute. Do small sections at a time.

- After each section take a separate dry terry cloth and wipe the surface while putting pressure on the seat. Your terry cloth should start to show some discolouration. That's the surface oil coming out of the leather.

- Once you have cleaned the seats just follow up with a leather conditioner. Try to do it at the end of a day so the conditioner can spend overnight penetrating the leather.
