Diff Flush
 

I am working on a 01 Legacy GT and I am trying to perform a diff flush. I seem to be having trouble undoing the fill & drain plug due to some rust. I wonder if there's any special method that can help do this job without causing damage or could someone please recommend me a shop that specialize this kind of work.

ive always used a metal brush for 10 mins and shoot PB blaster on it every 3-4 hours. leave overnight and opened up for me.

Whatever you do...get the FILL plug out first. You don't want to drain the oil and discover you can't put new stuff in.

What kind of tools did you use? The PB Blaster method and impact wrench usually gets it off.

i used a huge breaker bar. I am gonna attempt again with some wurth rost off. when in doubt, i can always get some pb blaster at work

If the diff is cast iron, after cleaning and apply the lube, give it some heat and squelch it with water a few times.
