Dog Dental Service I was looking for a vet that could clean my dog's teeth. How much does the service generally cost? Do they have to be put under? Preferably Vancouver area |
Depends on dog but most dogs have to be put under My vet @ Killarney medical center does it, I think I paid around $3xx last time. Since then I just get my dog lots of chew toys/dentasticks and try to brush his teeth biweekly |
Mine just kept on chewing this so called nylobones(sp?)...and couple baby carrots after every meal. Vet always say how nice and clean his teeth are...my dog never been to dental cleaning before... |
|
best way to clean a dogs teeth is raw bones! beef bones, lamb bones etc, |
http://www.revscene.net/forums/69493...-cleaning.html I highly recommend Pet Pro Oral Health 604 347 3885 Karina is mobile..does an excellent job without putting your dog under I get my dog done twice a year, costs about $100 each time |
Went for the K9 non sedated gentle cleaning today and it was recommended my dog see a vet to be sedated :( |
It's better to be sedated imo because you never know if the dog will feel the pain or not. I dont think dental work can be as effective without sedation as well. |
Yeah, I'm just worried how my dog is going to do under sedation. Hes about 12 years old and never needed vet treatment. So this is his first time, a little bit nervous for him |
Speak to your vet about that because there might be some complications at that age. |

No, there's no other reason for the dog to be sedated when getting their teeth cleaned. Are we sedated when we go to the dentist? I'm sure it's uncomfortable for the dog, but if it really hurts they will squirm. BTW the place I suggested actually insist that you stay for the first part of the cleaning. The lady wants you to see while she explains what she's doing. |

1. Sedate my dog and work on his dental and possibly face health complications (senior dog thats never had surgery) 2. Leave his teeth and face fatal problems like liver and heart failure I will probably go with option 1..Thoughts? Also does anyone have a recommended vet they trust? |
Any reputable vet should have blood work done prior to sedating a senior dog I take mine to Edmonds St Animal Hospital and my gf takes our other dog to Hastings Veterinary Hospital. |
Went to Columbia animal hospital and was happy with the price and service. Convenient hours and lots of parking. Home - (Vets in new westminster): Veterinary Clinic | Veterinary Services |(New westminster ,BC) You could always take your dog in for a check up/consultation |
