Went Gyoza bar on pender by Malone's downtown. No msg handmade noodles and Gyoza. Same owners as miku and manami. Best ramen and broth in the city IMO!

Uh...you're pretty much the only person that I know that has eaten at Gyoza Bar and actually liked the food.

"Best ramen and broth in the city IMO!"

^ I guess Revscene members have better tastebuds than the food critics. Also, the 2x I have gone, they have been packed, we must all not no good ramen.......haha, I luv Revscene, everyone is a pro at everything!

everyone can have an opinion. that's kool. Trip advisor and georgia straight both gave great reviews....allot of reviews think Gyoza bar is over priced, maybe it is, but quality food is quality food. No MSG and handmade noodles, how many ramen houses do this locally?

SkinnyPupp 09-25-2014 09:37 AM

Why would you not want MSG in your ramen? :fulloffuck:

That's like having toast without butter

BTW whatever they use instead will certainly have the same amount of glutamic acid anyway, they just use other ingredients instead. That is, if it has any umami at all

Z3guy 09-25-2014 09:40 AM

^ really? I bet you drink allot of pop as well.......sorry, I actually care what I consume in my body......

bcrdukes 09-25-2014 09:40 AM

I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however...

If you are using Tripadvisor and The Georgia Straight to base your opinions on food, art, culture, and politics, you should realize they are hardly authorities on anything.

Z3guy 09-25-2014 09:44 AM

^ I don't trust reviews, especially Yelp, I trust my tastebuds. I work in the Vancouver F&B industry and I am lucky enough to sample many different restaurants in Vancouver, again, it is just my opinion, my taste buds like what they like. I do put an emphasis on eating relatively healthly when I can......

I've been to Gyoza Bar + Ramen. Food, meh. Drinks, good. Too much hype, place full of hipster wannabe 'food critics' trying to get some new content for their blogs.

TLDR: Check out my review of Gyoza Bar + Ramen on my blog!

Expresso 09-25-2014 09:59 AM

MSG gets a bad wrap, but it occurs naturally in a lot of foods. Otherwise food wouldn't taste good.

You can all go to hell; this is the best:

10/10, would bang again, snort the powder and chase it with the solidified seasoning oil then munch on the noodles like a cookie.

Am I doing this right? :concentrate:

Tried to love ramen; however, I never find myself craving for them like I do for Pho.

You're missing the poached egg :fullofwin:

I've had Hokkaido Ramen Santouka a few times, and It still taste like Nissin Noodles to me.

I love the taste, but i just don't see the differance

Ronin 09-25-2014 03:34 PM

If you can't tell the difference, then good food just isn't for you...and that's just fine. You'll never have to spend massive amounts of money on good food when you're perfectly happy with shitty food.

It's like people telling me they're cheap drunks. GOOD! You get all the fun without the money so if you think a 50 cent pack of Momofuku Ando's best work is as good as a bowl of real ramen, then that's fantastic.

Those of us cursed with tastebuds are doomed to blow all our money on bluefin when you can grab perfectly good tuna from a can or at Tim Horton's.

You can find that in the T&T frozen aisle.
