Goonies 2

This is somewhat old news but what's your opinion on a Goonies Sequel? I remember seeing the original, summer of 85 I went and played baseball in the morning and went home with a super bad headache sleeping the afternoon and then that evening my Uncle picked me up and took me to the movie. It's weird what you remember from your childhood, but this movie was awesome then and it's still awesome now. If Spielberg is in I'm all for #2, would love nothing more then to take my son.

Quote:
Nearly 30 years after The Goonies made a mark on the childhood of millions for decades after its release, a sequel seems like it might just be on the way, according to the director of the original film, Richard Donner. Of course, given the immense popularity and longevity of The Goonies, a sequel has been a possibility for some time, but only now, with interest expressed from the original cast, like Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, and Corey Feldman, does a Goonies 2 seem more likely.

In addition to casting, none other than Steven Spielberg, also according to Donner, came up with the sequel’s story. Spielberg wrote the story for the original film, and his participation might therefore be reassuring to Goonies purists. Goonies 2 would take appropriately take place 30 years after the events of the first film and would feature the children of Mikey, Brand, and the rest of the gang.

Fuck sequels and make something original instead.

Crystal Skull absolutely tainted the Indiana Jones franchise. Let's not make the same mistake again.

Films from that time were awesome. Kids were foul-mouthed, houses were messy and chaotic, and none of the actors looked like plastic. Goonies 2 can try to recapture that, but in this day and age of over-sensitivity caused by political correctness gone wild, and Hollywood adhering to a safe formula, I'm gonna call it DOA.

If Spielberg is writing and directing the movie I have full confidence it will be good.

Every single time they try to take something from our childhood, it ends up being fucking awful. Like not just "bad" but downright insulting. I am literally disgusted by the Transformers movies, and what I have seen of TMNT, etc.

This is going to be dog shit, and I refuse to get excited about it.

Did you watch the LEGO Movie? I'm interested in hearing your take on it.

waaaaay too many sequels and reboots and remakes its astonishing at the amount of them

I'm a huge fan of the Goonies but I doubt they'll be able to create the wonderment that the original Goonies produced for a new generation of kids

i'll give it a watch though definitely
