OEM Hid Ballast repeated failure.
 
So my OEM hid ballast has been failing quite a bit lately. I would purchase other used ballasts that would work for a few months then die out aswell.

I took them to a shop that repairs OE ballasts and they said the transformers have all premature failed in both ballasts.

Anyone know the reasoning behind this?

its a w209 Merc.

Surge? old / worn wiring? Alternator?

Ahhh yes, I did purchase an aftermarket Bosche Alternator a couple years back... could the regulator be shot?

There is a surge every once in awhile when ideling.:accepted:
