Anyone Familiar with Laptop Hinge Mechanism? i have an asus ultrabook i'm pretty handy with computers but I've hit a brick wall i replaced a cable ribbon and now I'm ready to put everything back i'm stuck on the hinge area...i managed to get it to close 110-120 degrees but it won't budge any further...i've checked the cables near it and it's not getting in the way. It's not a popular laptop so no luck on youtube. i'm guessing there's a failsafe that prevents you from hyperextending your screen. Does anyone know how I can 'reset' it so it'll close? thanks. |
look for a pin or otherwise that may have "clicked". I just recently replaced the screen on an Acer S3 and the hinge - when not screwed into the chassis, required a LOT of force to move. Note: the pin MAY be tucked under the screen housing post up a picture + Model#, I'll take a look and see if I see anything you may have missed |
took the hinge completely out of the laptop to better assess it...reversed it with two plyers and looked under the loupes, fair enough it was upside down! |
