Tickets were all gone around one pm for the day lol fuck now I have to come back another day for the the exhibit |
Free day was good. The animation display thingy was good. As for food, the rib places are a must. I asked for free samples before I chose the one I liked. One place gave me like a whole shitload to try out, LOL. Better than Costco. Anyway, ended up getting a cup of pulled pork at one the places. 9 bucks for beans, pulled pork and slaw in a plastic cup. Then got potato salad for two bucks at one of the other places. Best two bucks spent at the PNE. Nothing new at the Market Place, but getting shoe shined for free and seeing a lot of familiar faces was good. South Asian guy selling pliers and cutters at the Market Place..... such a nice guy. I just buy stuff there for no reason, LOL. The fly dome or whatever they call it was pretty bad. If anyone gets into the Game of Thrones thing, let us know if it is worth lining up over. |
I watched the News about the GOT exhibit.. and people all raved about it. Also heard that the best thing to do is go early and grab the tickets for later in the day. Because as already posted, if you try too late. You won't get in. Hopefully going this weekend, throw myself into the weekend shitshow. |
Went yesterday as well, fuck corn dog + BBQ + mini donuts and mix in some beer, uhggg feeling it today lol Back again on Saturday! |
Now I know why I get stuff from the south Asian dude who sells scissors and pliers. The nail clipper I bought from him yesterday are very nice for the price I paid. Cleanliness is next to godliness. |
im thinking of going like half an hour early before PNE opens on a weekday so I can grab tickets to the GOT exhibit lol. not much I wanted to see this year except for that. and yea that fly dome was horrible. so hot and humid in there and hard to breath. When I went in people were only standing in a circle. I felt like going right in the middle and just lay on the grass but it wasent worth it lol left after 5 mins Gator bbq is so awesome mannnnn wish I had some of that right now! only thing I thought that was awesome from the market place this year was this but $160 fuck that lol right now its buy one get one free too but still not worth it |
how does the GOT thing work? do you just get tickets at the exhibit and go when you want during that day? |
Dunno about the ticket thing, but GoT was pretty good. Besides sitting on the throne, there's the Oculus Rift démo where you go up an elevator and then get shot with arrows and fall down a cliff. We arrived st PNE at 1030 and scored one of the free spots on renfrew and pender! Checkin out the pig races now. |
the GoT exhibit is definitely worth it if you are a fan. i managed to get tickets yesterday. waited about 45 minutes to get into the exhibit. they limit the number of people inside so it's not crowded at all. you can spend as much time as you'd like looking at the artifacts. there are separate lines inside to sit on the throne or do the 4d experience. each about 20 mins long. |
The GoT thing was only good for sitting on the throne. The Oculus Rift thing is a complete joke. You line up close to 30-40 minutes just to 'experience' a 60 second clip of you standing in an elevator as it ascends the wall. The show props were kinda cool, but they don't even have everything there. They didn't even have Longclaw or the Needle there! |
Although the Oculus thing was short, it was 60 seconds that sold me on getting one when the consumer version hits. It is awesome! |
I went to PNE on Sunday around 4pm and couldn't get into the GoT exhibit, horrible planning and communication on PNE's part. Apparently they were handing out "time slot tickets" in the morning first-come-first-serve, and hit max capacity by 3pm. The people holding the tickets were to walk around for 3-4 hours until their slot was open. So basically if you planned to go to the fair to check out their MAIN feature, first they don't tell you anything at the gate. Then when you pay your admission ticket to go inside PNE, THEN they tell you Game of Thrones is sold out. :seriously: Guess I gotta go back next week and pay admission again :okay: |
^^ PNE might not have announced it.. Yet I know CTV/CBC & CityTV have all talked about the whole "time slot ticket" thing. And yeah, it's frustrating if you didn't know about it, yet it's really smart. You have a less crowded experience and could do everything in a shorter time. Instead of lining up for 3 hours to get inside, then lining up another 2 hours to sit on the throne.. I'll be going by noon latest on Saturday to get some tickets. (Hopefully) |
i'll be going on saturday morning and try to get some tickets for GoT |
You figure they could tell you BEFORE you buy the admission ticket. The least they could have done was communicate to the main gate ticket vendors that the GoT exhibit is sold out for the day so we don't feel ripped off? It's a disgusting money grab. It's like purchasing Beyonce concert tickets. Then you are settled in to your seats only to have the announcer tell you last second that Beyonce is sick so Rebecca Black will be performing for the night, no refunds! |
it's $12, big deal. its either do it this way or line up for 3-5 hours probably, attractions like this dont work on a first come first serve basis i agree communication could have been better, but how are you suppose to get that info out as the PNE? |
Is there a time slot for the GoT tickets or can you just go whenever once you get your ticket? |

for GOT, do you know if you just get one ticket per person? don't live too far so wanted to go when they open to get tickets for 1-2 other people |
Can we choose the time slot that we want, and are there in and out privileges there? I want to go early in the morning to ensure i get the GOT tickets, and then return back during the evening. Thanks |
you line up and they give you the earliest time available. |

You might not think that it's a big deal, but you have families that literally drive all the way out here from Abbotsford that spend the time, money, and gas to show up. Pay their admission and find out afterwards that the main attraction they came all the way out for is sold out and the only thing they can do is spend more money to come back another day. You need to factor in gate admission ($13/$16), parking ($16), and gas into the equation. If you have a family then the costs increases significantly. I got in for free during the free admission day, but I can see why people would be pissed off. |
Though if you had a family id highly doubt you'd be lining up for 3 hours as the alternative if it was just first come first serve Also there's a tonne of 2 for 1 admission passes all over the place But yea, obviously with the amount of questions here there's definately a lack of communication |

... Instead, they tape the notice on the booth inside the fair that was giving away the time stamps :failed: Quote:
Say there were 4 of us, that's $52. Now making us go back again, so paying $104 to view the supposedly "free" exhibit. Not to mention the 40min drive and parking. :seriously: Was it super packed during free admission day? I would imagine it would be a gong show :lol |
We walked by the GoT on free day at about 830 and it was lined up around the back corner of the building closest to Hastings |
