Google Play in different country
 

When I am in Asia and would need to download something that is not available in Google Play US, how do I fake my region setting? The device is rooted already.

I googled and some showed "market enabler", but I don't think it works anymore. Any idea?

BTW you can't fake the region on phones sold in China without custom firmware (unless something has changed last time I tried to do it)

You could try using orbot. You just need to setup which apps you want to vpn, and setup the exit node. I've used the exit node {us} to fake that I'm in the US, but I'm not too sure what you would use for Asia.

I tried with PrivateInternetAccess (paid VPN) in the last 6 months, and I can't access the US Google Play store.

Please clarify.

If I have a Hong Kong phone and use VPN, will it auto switch to US google play?
or I need to change the provider code (like in Market enabler type). Thanks.

I forgot to add if you want to access the US Play Store, you'll need to create another google account that has a US location.

The process for accessing the US play store would be:
set up orbot> start it> clear play store data> open play store> select your US account

As soon as you turn orbot off, you'll be reverted back.

Have you tried to Google the name of the app you want to see if an apk is available somewhere?

You can use your current gmail and the US one at the same time. When opening the play store after clearing the data, it'll ask you which gmail to use. Then after you're done using the US account switch it back to your original one.
