Bumping this up looking for a kid-friendly place in Puerto Vallarta as we might want to go with my brother in law and his two kids (6 and 3?)

Specific AI resort recommendations would be great. Thanks!

So we’ve been looking for the same thing, have a family member paying for everyone to go down on February, 7 adults and 2 kids. Budget is approx $3000 per person

In PV, at that price point seems to be fairly limited options, I asked Reddit as well and most people said either the Riu or Barcelo

$3k sounds like a lot no?

My friend went and recommended Occidental Nuevo Vallarta to me 4.5-stars, for my December dates I am seeing $2139 all-in for 5 nights. I guess unless you are looking at a full week, but even then $3k sounds like plenty to work with.

Riu > Barcelo by a country mile (based on my experiences in Cabo, mind you)

For me food is the main thing, I’ve had very mixed experiences at the Riu.

The problem really is the kids lol.. if you can go to an adults only resort it seems like you get wayyyy more for your money than the family resorts etc.

Riu PV looks pretty nice, the recent YouTube reviews make the food look pretty decent (for all inclusive standards) the only downside is the pools, they just look like generic square pools. Which isn’t the end of the world but it’s kind of nice to have those expansive pools with water features etc.

I’ve been to all the resorty areas of Mexico now but haven’t been back to PV in about 18 years or so, so family opted to do PV. I think PV also offers quite a bit more in terms of outside the resort within shorter distances than Cabo or Cancun/Playa

Hyatt Ziva you could get for under $3K for the week.

Easily one of the best beaches and spots down there.

A friend booked Riu for $1,350 - 1,500 for 7 nights, seems like the play in Nov.

Ok, so looks like not going with the kids and so can do adults only for PV.

I am heavily leaning towards Villa Premiere Boutique Hotel & Romantic Getaway, the reviews on Tripadvisor seem generally positive, seems like a smaller place too:

Others on my list were Hyatt Ziva however seems like reviews are a bit more mixed. However, I can get a swim-up King room for similar price which would be pretty sweet.

Third is Secrets Vallarta Bay, generally it seems like Secrets is a higher-end adults only experience, can get a Jr Suite for the price.

Besides Hyatt Ziva which was mentioned before, anybody else have experience with Secrets or Villa Premier?

Hondaracer 09-16-2024 10:15 AM

Watching a bunch of YouTube videos on PV resorts while the Hyatt has the nice beach, the resort itself looks older a more run down than comparables in the Riu, Hard rock, etc.

Secrets looked a step up from most of them in the reviews I watched

Do Hyatt Ziva you fuck.

I've been down to PV countless times, lived down there for 2 months back in 2021, Hyatt Ziva is by far one of the best resorts down there from all my visits.

Personally, the best is renting a car and just booking a nice Airbnb in the same area, but if you're looking to just stay at the resort, Ziva is hard to beat. One of the best beaches by far.

Don't stay at the resorts in Nuevo, the area is shit.

Nuevo is boring as fuck, no nightlife.

Food was ok at Occidental....lost power for over 12 hours one day...super hot no AC for the kids. Service was amazing, food not so much. Kids wanted McDondalds, luckily one was down the street. Went to Tino's last day off resort...food was amazing! Tinos had authentic Mexican food, better than the resort.
