Hi guys,

Wondering what app(s) do you guys use to make long distance calls via wifi?

My friend calls her dad in Austria using skype all the time now that they don't have iPhones anymore.

Viber! And then Skype for video calls

Google hangouts now does calling. It's free calling within Canada and the US, and has pretty cheap rates for international.

Can call to any number or phone without google hangout?

On another note, how does the new iphone 6 wifi calling work? Same thing as face time without the visuals?

yep. It shows up as a private number though, so the person has no idea who is calling them - which may or may not work in your favour. It's just a separate dialer within the hangout app. There's a slight lag, but the call quality is pretty good.

No idea about the iPhone calling though.

try oovoo. used it and it is pretty good. i use bbm too sometimes and kakao for voice calls only. skype stopped working for me. using a note 2

i use Fongo. You can get a local number (778 xxx xxxx) or another location within north america. I usually use that 2nd number for signing up for things like condo presale centers etc.

theres a slight half second lag (similar to skype) when calling another number, but when both sides are using fongo then its immediate and free.

Viber always worked well for me

I noticed Skype drops my calls quite frequent. Anyone else got this issue?
