Emblem glue left over

So.. I recently removed my emblem and am stuck with some damn un-removable glue..

I used gift card to get the soft spongey parts off with goo gone but i could still see the letters. And its butt ugly. LOL.

Any ideas how to remove them?

Also dont wanna start another thread so i m just gonna ask on here too, during the process or using giftcard i have left the paint with some hairline scratches, any ideas how to remove them?

If you go to a detailer they'll have it off within a few mins w/ a rubber wheel or something similar

I've used a heat gun + rubbed it with my fingers and it'll roll off. Use goo gone on the residue and get some rubbing compound and hand polish out any damage you left ... should come out looking pretty good

or ... just go to a detailer and it'll be done a lot faster, for about the same price you'd pay to buy all the stuff to do it yourself

3M makes a citrus based adhesive remover that works well. Clay bar might also work, and for the scratches use a polishing compound and buff the shit out of it. (I hope you have a buffing wheel)

There's a product called "Goof Off" (yes, I know, stupid name) which is far better than Goo Gone.

soak a paper towel with nail polish remover then put it on the emblem residue... let it soak in the remover with a cloth... works like charm everytime

Try 3M Adhesive Remover. I used it on 20 year old glue that ran along both doors, came off with a little elbow grease.

Goo Gone and Goof Off are a bad idea, since they can strip paint too. Use a citrus based cleaner. Maybe along with a heat gun and a soft scraper

hey zilley, you may need to wash and then wax your car (and of course the emblem area) to remove all trace. even if all the sticky stuff is gone, a "ghosting" of the old emblem is sometimes seen. a good waxing usually gets rid of that effect.

Kerosene has never let me down removing junk off rims and paint. I clean it right away and it's never damaged any paint but who knows if it's 100% safe. It's definitely less harsh on paint than gasoline is.

Eraser wheel to get the big chunks off and some wax and grease remover.

Wear safety glasses, as the adhesive will sling off and don't keep the eraser tool in one spot or you're gonna have a bad time.

EDIT: ts14 beat me to it.

the proper tool to remove left over adhesives is the eraser wheel, a must have tool in any bodyshop. you can order the eraser wheel from lordco.

im surprised no one mentioned turtle wax's bug and tar remover, that shit works wonderfully on adhesives left over from debadging. all u have to do once the badge is removed is spray liberally over the adhesive, let it sit for atleast 10 mins, the longer the better, and the adhesive can be pulled off easily without any scrubbing scraping
