Costco Tire Warranty

great info in post #3 below

roastpuff 09-28-2014 05:51 PM

I don't know about tires bought from the Bellingham warehouse, but my mom's tire (Ecopia 422) had a nail too close to the sidewall to patch, so they replaced it outright - it had only about 8K on it? We just paid for the mounting ($15) and that was it.

i work at a costco tire centre.

1) what car do you have? is it 2wd or 4wd
2) sidewall damage is road hazard warranty. we pro-rate the cost of the tire. depending how much tread is left, thats how much the new tire[s] will cost you
3) if the tread is near new, we may only road hazard one tire, but in most cases..
4) we replace two tires at a time as per costco rules. so both tires on an axle will be pro-rated. you may have to pay 20% of the original cost of the tire, but they will be replaced. unless...
5) you have an AWD or 4WD vehicle, then all four tires will have to be road hazarded, and you will have to pay the pro-rated amount for all four tires.
6) if your tire is no longer available, you are given the next comparable tire, either pay a dollar or two more or get a dollar or two back etc

hope this helps.
edit: since it was bellingham, we run off of canadian costco tire centre prices, regardless of what you paid for the tire in the states. if the tire is no longer carried then just go to costco and talk to the sales staff and figure out the difference in price. depends how cheap you are. some people do go back down to the states and warrantee it down there, but call the warehouse ahead to make sure they have your tire in stock, or else it would be a wasted trip down

My dad recently tore the sidewall on one tire (part of a new set) purchased through Costco that was replaced no questions asked which we were both honestly surprised at since it was clearly his fault, lol. Warranty ftw?

320icar is a liar. He works at Canadian Tire.

I work at some hole-in-the-wall independent tire place, you've probably never heard of it. #pbrdukes

Nailed it. :fuckyea:

Edit: Too soon?

twitchyzero 09-28-2014 10:59 PM

good info!

just inflated it and tried the bubble test, it doesn't seem to be the small sidewall tear that's causing deflation :derp: ...probably a nail in the tread that i'll just patch up.

yes i wasn't sure if warranty is honoured up here, but since the membership card can be used internationally (even in Asia) made me presume tire warranty also carried over

320icar 09-28-2014 11:21 PM

dont forget, free flat repair at costco as well. if its leaking, just bring it in. we can take the tire off the rim and inspect the inner tire to make sure there isn't any internal damage. still free fyi

Just to confirm, US Costco tire warranty is honoured locally?

Gotta go dig up my old receipt if it's still around

320icar 09-30-2014 07:35 PM

Yes it's honored locally. If you can't find receipts they will be in the computer and can be reprinted.

Just a reminder, any pro-rated warranty will be on the Canadian pricing , not the us pricing you may have paid

As per RFD:

Michelin
www.michelinpromo.ca
Oct.13 - Dec.15
$70.00 mail-in rebate on a set of 4 Michelin tires - all products

twitchyzero 09-11-2017 09:59 PM

since i go down south every few weeks will probably opt for that route again (they have 70$ instant discount)

$0.83 to the greenback :ahwow: moar!

320icar 09-11-2017 10:10 PM

Right now Bridgestone is on sale at Costco for September, October should be Michelin. Pirelli will probably be the same time as Michelin. All $70 off with a set of 4 tires, instant rebate (not mail in)

bomberR17 09-11-2017 11:06 PM

nice nice. Gonna need to replace my Michelin PSS soon. Guess I'll try the new Pilot Sport 4S. Too bad Costco doesn't mount on aftermarket wheels.

320icar 09-11-2017 11:58 PM

^^ they do. If it's an aftermarket size they will gladly mount the new tires on the wheels, but they won't mount the new package onto the car. It's called a carry in. Lots of guys in the summer bring in their track wheels to have re71r's installed. Don't think I've ever actually then mounted them onto a vehicle. All just carry in/carry out

TouringTeg 09-12-2017 07:10 AM

Yep ^ I carry in quite often. The only downside is the Langford Costco often leaves carry in wheels until the very end of the day. Sometimes they run out of time.

6o4__boi 09-12-2017 07:46 AM

320's post should be stickied somewhere for future reference

320icar 09-12-2017 08:24 AM

Nah that post was from 2014, so a few little things may have changed. But it still holds up as a mostly correct guideline. I think kal tire has a similar warranty procedure too but I haven't looked in depth
