[Confidential] Do I stick with her or break it off? The following post was submitted by a seasoned Revscene member who has chosen to keep their identity confidential. Hello, Never in the day of my life did I think I would meet a girl who was awesome in so many ways. The irony is that she comes from a cultural background I never would have expected to have ever dated due to bad experiences in the past, but regardless, I chose to keep an open mind and we've been going steady for almost seven months...until today. I decided today would be THE day for this girl to meet my family. She and I went out for brunch and shortly after that, she said to me, "Hey, I think it would be nice to get something for your parents." I thought to myself, "Sure, why not? What could possibly go wrong?" So off to Main Street we went. We make a stop at Eugene Choo and then Mr. Kim's Market then made our way to my parents' place only to find that nobody is home. They must have gone out for dim sum with their friends. My girl and I make our way downstairs to have some freshly roasted organic coffee, chill out on the couch and watch some Food Network (ugh, how mainstream.) We hear my parents come home so go head on upstairs to greet them, introduce them to my girlfriend. Then I realize, "Oh shit, we forgot the stuff we bought!" So I asked my parents to have a seat while I get the water boiling for the tea, my girl heads on out to her car to grab the gifts. She rushes in full of excitement and trips over the door step and in my horror, I see two full buckets of organic kim chi flying in the air, headed towards my parents. Yup. It splattered everywhere, all over both me, my parents, my sister and my limited edtion Toms espadrilles. The living room is covered in this fresh organic kim chi and I've got a dramatic Korean girl face flat on the floor, crying like your typical Korean drama princess. Might I add, the house smells like The Foundation on a Friday evening. Needless to say, things did not end well. My family, particularly my parents, are extremely pissed off to no fault of her own. I feel that the experience overall has pushed them over the edge. They hate her but it's not her fault. I can't foresee my family forgiving her anytime soon. So, wise citizens of Revscene - what to do? Stick with the girl or break it off? |
Cosmetic surgery. You end up with the same girl. They'll never know about it. And you know she was going to get it anyways. Win-Win-Win. :fullofwin: |
Not sure of serious post..... You like this girl? Yes? Deflect the family anger until it cools down. You said yourself it was an accident. If you think she did it on purpose, then break it off. PS. Kim chi for presents? Why were the tops off? |
Your parents are some kind of uptight to get upset over an accident like that. Maybe I come from a fucked up family but I'm pretty sure my family would feel bad for the girl for falling but laugh at everything else. I'm probably not the person to answer your original question because I really could give a fuck what my parents think of girls I'm dating (before I was married). Since you're asking the question I'm going to say yeah, why not break it off find someone that meets your parental approval mold or better yet maybe they can arrange a women for you. |
In the words of leagally blonde... if you let a bowl of kim chi get in the way, then you are not the OG we thought you were |
Uh. Why is this a big deal? Clean up the mess, apologize, laugh it off. |
Your post is written in a very unserious way. I'm not sure I believe you |
This one event shouldn't really be a big deal... |
You're thinking about breaking up with her because she tripped and spilled kim chi and your parents freaked the fuck out over nothing? :fulloffuck: |
Lol I laughed my ass off Whiney girl and inconsiderate bf + family members. Sounds like everyone needs to grow up a bit here Yeah break it off seems like you guys weren't meant to be |
stick with the girl on one condition: she has to eat all of the spilled kimchi....out of your ass. |
Willing to put money down that Bastardo wrote that to fuck with us |

is this for reals? can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. but i will give you the benefit of the doubt. stick with her if you ask me. it was just an accident. this won't be the first, and definitely won't be the last. no one is perfect and if your family expect that, maybe you need to deal with your parents. |
I was expecting to get "Bel Aired"... |
What's so bad about it? Clean the mess and laugh it off.My parents would feel bad for the girl for falling rather than worry about the accident. |
lol https://forums.oneplus.net/attachmen...eme-jpg.85187/ is the kimichi or the whole story just a metaphor?:suspicious: |
Not sure if serious.. |
Your parents sound like clowns. |
http://img.4plebs.org/boards/tv/imag...8573535774.gif Had to put this gif up :lawl: Of course stick with the girl, your parents are making a big deal out of nothing. |
a guy i dated for a good number of years decided to end things because he couldn't figure out how to deal with the cultural differences between us. the issue wasn't between him and me, it was the family and their perception of me because i'm an outsider to them. family perceptions matter unless you don't give a fuck about what your parents think. sticking out with the girl is fine but you need figure out where your parents' hatred is coming from and how to diffuse it. 7 months isn't a short time but it isn't very long either so if you know things aren't going to improve or foresee it going south, it's better to end things now than waste each other's time and emotional investment. |
Reminds me of this: |
I'm not sure if you're blowing this out of proportion and just think that your parents hate her, or did they actually tell you that themselves? I think your parents need to give their heads a shake. What, they've never made mistakes in their lives? |
