Anyone remember from NCIX days, filling out rebate forms and literally mailing them in?
This was making me nostalgic for that.

Obviously there's a decrease in tire life, but they're so cheap it's negligible.

Our Rav will age out the tires way before a little summer driving hurts them.

About a week on my Pirelli WeatherActives. So far so good... They're about as quiet as my OEM Conti Procontact TX. Not sure how often I'll get to use these in the snow.

If anyone needs a set of winters I have a set of 17x8.5 5x120 Kosei K1 with 245/40/17 Yokohama Iceguard winter tires stamped 2018.
The rims are itself are kind of beat, but no visible cracks or damage other than baked on brake dust and paint chips. The tread is actually really good as the previous owner barely used them.

Update:
Tires came in on the 17th via FedEx Ground (4 days after I ordered). Came from the tire warehouse near Adesa.
Two tires were dated 5022 and two were 0223. Emailed PMC Tire about the nearly 2 year old tires asking for a discount. PMC Rep told me nearly 2 years old doesn't cut it for the discount policy and mentioned the 20% off I got from the ebay promo.
Not very happy with PMCtire's customer service but...
I got approved for the $100 rebate which made up for PMC's apathetic customer service. Conti's warranty is pretty damn good too.
All in all, total cost for a set of 205/55R16 VC7s after tax+shipping was $634.49, or $158.62 per tire.
Got the tires mounted last week. Old ones were Chinese and from 2011
Also: register your tires for the roadside assistance https://register.roadsideprotect.com/continental
Big thanks to TypeRNammer! Quote:

What is the rule, if any, about how old or shelf life of tires that stores can sell as 'new'? Within 2 yrs is the standard? Or is it buyer beware?

- Tires with a DOT less than 4 years old: We believe these tires still provide optimal performance. The manufacturer guarantees these tires for a period of 6 years from the date of purchase. If a problem occurs, our team is available to assist you in filing a claim with the manufacturer. It's worth noting that in our many years of operation, we have never encountered this type of situation!
- Tires with a DOT older than 4 years: If a tire has slipped through our checks and you wish to return it, we will cover the return shipping costs. Otherwise, we offer financial compensation* based on the age of the DOT:
30% discount for a 4-year-old DOT;
40% discount for a 5-year-old DOT;
50% discount for a 6-year-old DOT and older.
| It's pretty much luck of the draw I guess. I got Nankangs a few months back and they were fresh.

For people living in the interior... question for you, I am not trying to be an idiot and I'm well aware of the October 1 to April 30 rules with winter tires OR M+S minimums for certain mountain passes.
Long story short, I would prefer to drive my Supra back to Calgary... but obviously it does not comply to the M+S minimum req... that said, it's just barely into October and I am picking a drive back day such as next Tuesday or Wednesday when it's supposed to be nearly 20C and even the highest elevation places I check on the way there are showing a low of 6C...
Long story short what's your experience with the police if they actually blitz or roadblock the TransCan or Coq this time of year fining people? I realize it technically contravenes the rules blah blah the rules are there for protection of people's safety etc etc but with careful planning the risk is so minimal at this time of year... few weeks later or November+? Sure.
I'd just prefer not to have to drive my Lexus again and give the Supra a little boot... inputs from experienced travellers welcome!

I've never heard of a roadblock or of anyone who has actually gotten a ticket for it but I imagine if you're in an accident or stopped for something else they might check.
That said weather on the passes changes fast. When I'm driving something more questionable during the shoulder season I go through Princeton and Penticton to stay at a lower altitude but iirc that's a much longer route if you're going to Calgary. Definitely plan to stop and check the actual weather and precipitation radar as well as DriveBC before you start up each pass and have a backup route planned.
