O Ring Popped out of Coilovers Sup revscene, long time since I posted. So recently I was installing coilovers on my rsx. I noticed that on one of them the rubber o ring that's sits in between the top hat and spring is half popped out. It's hard to explain, and I kind of already installed it ( haven't driven on them yet, it's in storage for winter just wanted to see how they looked). There an o ring that sits in between two metal disk I guess, they separate the spring from the top spring. I don't if anyone knows what I'm talking about I'll try posting pictures later. But ya so the ring is popped out and I'm wondering is this a huge deal? Does it really matter if I get it fixed or not? Also is this something I could easily fix at home or should I bring it to work and do it with proper equipment like spring compressors. |
If it's a true coilover, just mark the rings, count how many turns you loosen it, set the ring back in place and put everything back where it was. Coilovers don't require the use of a spring compressor. |
Will it make a difference if I don't bother fixing it? It looks like it's just there to stop rubbing so my coilovers aren't noisy. It's just a cheap plastic ring inbetween the spring and top hat |
How thick is it? Say 1/32? :troll: Once you lose it, the spring is going to be that much looser. Plus, if there's not much preload, the spring is going to rub against the mount. |
Thank ice boy. I love you <3. I'll fix it later this week. My cars just sitting in my garage waiting for me to finish installing everything. |
