Mindblasted... I know what bollards are, but after reading this, I quickly googled a bunch of big box store images, and yep, every one has bollards surrounding the entrance. And I had never been observant to notice them. lol

It's not just N-Motion, but it's pretty much every security footage I have seen released...
Always shit quality. What's up with that? It's almost like they have security camera just to either scare people,
or it's just policy/procedure to have one.

Sorry, just peeved. How are thieves going to get caught when security cameras in general are so shitty?? :yuno:

jing 11-10-2014 11:40 PM

Probably because HD surveillance cameras weren't affordable until recently

Gululu 11-11-2014 09:05 AM

did the thieves break into kirmac collision? or they specifically targeted n-motion only?

E-SPEC 11-11-2014 09:43 AM

Those thieves really were N-motion. Sorry i had to.

BoostedBB6 11-11-2014 10:23 AM

With the way the shop is set up it was only a matter of time. People knew what they sold, it was radially accessible and getting in was easy due to aluminum framed glass bay door.
I spent huge amounts of time securing a commercial property I used to work for. Bay door was locked with pad locks and bars to prevent entry. Also parked a large vehicle in front of the bay door at night so there was no room to get in.
Bars on all windows, and a ton of cameras on the exterior and interior with cell paging security system on multiple back ups with motion and pressure sensors.

Hope they have insurance and invest in a better security setup as I would not be surprised if theses guys came back in 6 months to try this again if nothing changes.

Mr.Money 11-12-2014 01:06 AM

just heard looking at the facebook posts that this was the forth time a break-in has happened :fulloffuck: Fuck me some people are too busy to invest in their security.

wouldn't you need casino-grade security cameras to get any sort of quality? i remember looking up at the starlight and seeing more cameras than light fixtures :o:

punkwax 11-13-2014 01:15 PM

It's not the resolution of the cameras that make a difference in casinos, it's the frame rate in which they record on. You need expensive equipment to record a lot of HD cameras each at the highest frame rate possible. Of course resolution matters as well, but before everyone started going IP, casinos had standard 540TVL analog cameras all over the place.

Live viewing on many surveillance systems looks good. People slap in the cheap stuff thinking its good, then something happens and they go back on hard drive and realize the video isn't near the quality they thought they had.

You get what you pay for in life...

Speaking of casino cameras, check this out:

Vancouver police used security cameras in a casino to zoom in on a suspect's cellphone and read his text messages, and later arrested him for a series of firearms charges after finding a cache of guns in two apartments....

That wouldn't be too hard considering he probably had a camera DIRECTLY above him pointing down while he sat at a black jack table, pretty crazy though.

I gotta ask, why is the interior camera not one of the dash cams they sell? The quality would've been infinitely better and had sound.

You'd install them outside the bay door, they are removable/lockable. That being said wouldn't thieves just cut the locks?

Some lockable things have big metal plates that cover where the lock goes, so you can't just use bolt cutters to pop the lock, you either have to do a bunch of drilling or a bunch of cutting, all which makes noise and takes time.

Dashcams aren't surveillance cams. They only record for short periods and then overwrite - you probably wouldn't get a whole night on there, let alone multiple days, weeks or months.

They also don't record to a central location - outfitting a shop with a dozen or so dash cams might seem like a good idea until you want to review video from more than three or four of them.

Most surveillance systems also allow remote access for live viewing and playback... dashcams, not so much.

they need one of those 4K airport/casino cameras only $999 (for the camera not all the other peripherals)

4th time (wonder if it's in the same manner? :crazy2:) and they didn't bother on some easy fixes as mentioned :suspicious:

All very true, but considering they sell the things already it'd be worth it to toss a couple up in addition to their current stuff if they don't want to upgrade that garbage camera they currently have. With a big enough card you should be able to at least get a nights worth of footage, good enough for break ins. It's obviously not ideal, but it's better than their current potato cam that you can barely get a vehicle model from, let alone a plate number or face.

Of course, people always think of these things AFTER something happens.

I don't know if you'd get substantially better image in the dark anyway... higher resolution, but not necessarily better picture.

will keep a lookout. i get great service from them.

E-SPEC 11-19-2014 12:38 PM

Did you guys know that the theives (or whoever) came back 3 days later driving through the front door this time cleaning them out AGAIN???? Harsh

Lowered_Klass 11-19-2014 12:53 PM

3 days later?! Holy shit :(

That takes some serious balls... or drug induced desperation. God damn

underscore 11-19-2014 01:05 PM

TOS'd 11-19-2014 01:16 PM

3 days later and we are only hearing about this now? that 3 days ago was just over a week ago.

E-SPEC 11-21-2014 08:16 AM

Yes, apparently so.
