^^ or dell (unless you are getting their business laptops).

I got an HP sitting in my desk right now. Unused and I only got it 2 years ago. Shitty battery life and keyboard is unconfortable to type on.

Tone Loc 11-29-2014 11:43 PM

Anyone think the PS4 will get cheaper on Boxing Day vs. Black Friday? PS4 GTA 5 + Destiny bundle was $450 at Best Buy... didn't seem like an amazing deal IMO

Matsuda 11-29-2014 11:57 PM

hexacore is a quad core with an additional 2 cores dedicated to video..according to the HP rep.

don't buy acer, they're shite

Hondaracer 11-30-2014 12:12 AM

Dell is notbing compared to HP.

HP is 10 times the worst customer sevice uou could imagine. I will post up up saved email to them tomorrow regarding my HP touchpad

Never had s worse customer service experiance in my life than with HP.

Slifer 11-30-2014 08:50 AM

Hmmm, was that a bad buy? Its not hexa core? Did I just get scammed? :suspicious:

Tetsugen 11-30-2014 09:09 AM

True story. I just returned my Dell XPS 13 after a few weeks of use. Wireless hardware issues out of the box, got another one, exact same thing.

Dell's support line, "We can remote log-on and check the issue." When I'm calling in because my Wifi won't work at all

Same question, I was thinking about going down and grabbing this today. I doub the PS4 will get much cheaper this year, will it?

Well, it's like saying a sports car with a 2+2 configuration is a four-seater. In this case, it has four processing cores plus two graphics cores. In terms of performance, the Acer computer looks much better, and is also $100 cheaper.

I'd buy the Acer and slap a 256GB SSD in it.

It's up to Sony and how desperate they are to get their console out there. There is no margin for consoles so it is not up to the stores. It will probably just be different games packaged together and not just a straight price discount.

I have had my acer aspire for 6 years now (maybe 5?) not sure and still works excellent. It was only like $349 on boxing day and I have absolutely no complaints. I don't play video games or anything with intense graphics (use for school/work/videos).

Why is acer "shite"? Because it costs less? Or do they have inferior video cards (for which some people never really use anyways?). I have had a few brands an none seemed to last as long as this acer has......

Amazon.com: LG Electronics 65LB5200 65-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED TV: Electronics

Definitely not the greatest TV out there, and the 120 Hz is sort of a lie (LG's interpolated 120Hz). I've read that the TV gets better with time and that the light bleeding issue was for the 60" version. Bought a Chromecast for 23 bucks on Amazon (sale is still on), so this TV will have all the "smart" functionality using any tablet/phone.

Really though, I bought this TV so that I could move the 55" panasonic downstairs into my man cave to play destiny...this TV is strictly for the wife to watch her shows on. And she doesn't give two shits about how big/clear the picture is. This TV was cheaper than balls (and big), so it was the right choice for me. If you want to use this TV for gaming/HD movies....I'd look elsewhere.

For HP desktops, they are pretty good and reliable (from personal experience). However, for HP laptops, I heard horrible things about them from friends, online, etc.. I would probably be extra careful with HP laptops (specific models).

I have an Acer laptop that I bought for $399.99, and it has been reliable/problem-free for the past 4~ years now, while it does feel slower than it was new, it still does the job (no gaming involved).

With my LG tv, I couldn't use my MacBook on it

7seven 12-02-2014 06:21 AM

I have a LG TV in the office/den, its held up pretty good so far. Just picked up this 55in Samsung on Saturday, on impulse strolling through Bestbuy for $1,099 for my bedroom, perfect to roll over in the morning in bed to watch NCAA and NFL football without leaving the bed. Happy with it so far, although like all Smart TVs, the Smart features are pointless. http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...59c1a73e57en02

Jokes aside, LG does make some shitty tv's and good tv's. Same as any other brand. $500 65 incher thats decent quality is a steal.

Most consumers don't even know what SMART is, they just buy it for the marketing name... ie "I have a smart 55 inch tv", or "I am buying it to futureproof myself but I don't know how to use anything on it".

LOL

Download vuze or similar software and you can stream your downloaded movies onto the TV via wifi thats the only feature I use on the smart tv

HP = Heating Problems

yes i would avoid, my HP laptop lasted barely after the 1 year warranty expired. Never again

Ironically, my refurbished desktop I bought in 2008 still works today, except the HDD is starting to go so I'll be replacing it with a SSD

gilly 12-02-2014 12:11 PM

That's a pretty sweet impulse buy, mine are usually limited to Kinder Surprise for my kids. ;)

I picked up a 40" RCA TV at Superstore for $239 + tax free. Decent little tv for the kids to watch in the basement and for me while I'm on the bike trainer.

Also got a Dewalt hammer drill and impact driver for $200, my neighbour will be thrilled that I don't need to borrow his all the time. After years of getting hand-me-down tools from family or Jobmate type stuff for Xmas I was itching for something of better quality.

etodac 12-02-2014 07:22 PM

Teavana still has its cyber monday deal today: $25 off $60 and free shipping over $50. I'm a big tea drinker and I found some great tumblers for myself and christmas presents for family. With the discount, one of my tumblers was just $9! Check out the on sale items for some good deals. In store may have some discounts still.

You'll find yourself never using the smart features (other than screen mirroring if you have a Samsung phone) on that TV because it's a pain to type/browse around. It comes with a traditional remote where you'll have to press the directional buttons a million times before you get what you want. The model one up from it, the H6400 (Future Shop exclusive) was the same price and has a pointer/cursor style remote. You can actually type websites and browse the interwebz pretty flawlessly on that one.
