back on topic though, i dont think ill have as much fun on a litre back on the track compared to a 600 or even a 250 but on the street.. for sure litre bike

i once had a YZF-R1. i used to ride more than drive a car. i was so crazy about it back then i used to think in the winter if the snow didn't stick to the ground i would consider it to still be good riding weather.

but after it got stolen/unrecovered and having to deal with the grief i had with icbc etc. i stopped riding. now that i'm older i'm sort of thankful it got stolen because i would probably have killed myself with it because it was too damn fast for city streets. also, a few people i used to ride with died in traffic accidents on their bikes which made me sober up. now that i'm older with some shred of sanity i'm happy with just my car thanks.

(but i still miss riding... sigh.)

Stock-ish 1000cc sportbikes. My ZX10R put down 195whp on pump gas and weighs around 410lbs wet. Never dynoed it on AVGAS but it would probably be around the 200hp mark. When you're used to that a standard bike feels heavy and slow being down 30hp and carrying an extra 50lbs. Exceptions being the S1000RR and the new 10R.

Hmm, weird.... I ride a 1200 at 160HP or so, all I did was flashed it, installed a few minor mods and thing weighs 520# wet.... but when CharlieH rode it he said it's probably one of the fastest bike he has ever ridden and he streets a HP4 =/

Big torque has that arm-pulling effect at low and mid-range speeds but I guarantee when the speeds get higher his HP4 will drop your bike like a bad habit. The new S1000RR's and ZX10R's are very fast out of the box unlike their competition from Yamaha and Honda for example.

Sportbikes are getting faster and faster...some bikes need to catch up.

To put into context, jd has a fully built race motor in his zx10, thats why he may find stock 1000's a bit hum drum. Puts down 195 at the wheels where as these factory 200hp bikes are only claiming those numbers at the crank. I think he raced wmrra for a few seasons?

i didn't get to ride his diavel at track speeds but holy shit that thing had some pull below 150km/h. felt like i was hanging on for dear life lol.
